ORIGINAL: Commander Stormwolf Yes, the Emily.. the only good plane built by japan Take out the fuel (range of 12 normal, 18 extended sounds good), put in 2 more torpedo hardpoints, add some armor and more 20mm guns, and...you have a plane that can shoot down F6Fs and sink essex carriers. Should have built about 10,000 of them. Instead.. they built 167.. and some of them as transports.. oh.. and Emilys don't need an airbase, just some water and a few submarines to refuel (should have been a war-winner) Always easy, isn't it. Time and time again, someone is always so kind as to point out how so stupid were the actual historical figures who consistently made the wrong decisions. If the historical figures hadn't been so stupid they would simply have said abracadara and all the annoying distracting pressures would have vanished. Oh yes, just add more guns, torpedoes, armour. There will be absolutely no increase in gross weight and consquently no deterioration in flight characteristics. They'll just brush aside all those flimsy Hellcats on CAP. Increase production to 10,000 units. No impact on production of other plane models from different manufacturers. No problems in finding and training the aircrews for such a significant multi crewed airplane, after all, just like in AE, all you need is one crewman the same as required for a Zero. Plus all that additional armour (and torpedoes and guns) is easily forthcoming, what with the samurai code, who needs any armour on any other Japanese weapon system. What were they thinking back then. They clearly deserved to lose because they just could not manage their resources both efficiently and effectively. Alfred
