Hi michaelm,

Using q6.

I was looking at my Bolingbroke unit in Canada which is attached to the restricted Western Air Command HQ. I can change the HQ since it is yellow.

However, I was surprised to see when I chose to transfer the unit that I could move it to Cape Town, Cristobal, Eastern USA, etc. etc. Essentially a list of bases that are NOT Canadian.

I believe what you want to do to cover this and the topic of air units that are originally permanently restricted and return as reinforcement still permanently restricted is (and in this order):

1. No restricted air unit can move (on-map or off-map) to a base which is not part of its command.

2. Permanently restricted air units that return to the map (on or off map base) as a reinforcement first have their 'permanent' status removed. They return as restricted air units with the possibility of HQ change.

3. To move a restricted air unit to a base outside its command, you first have to change the command.

I gather that what is currently happening is not what you intended.

I've attached my current PBEM turn for you.

Best Regards.

Ah
this is what some players have meant in that restricted groups can be moved between offmap bases.

I have been looking at the moving by ships. Not 'flying' between bases.

Forgot about this!! I'll check the 'restrictions'.

[edit]
The offmap range check was in the wrong place and was overriding the distance to the new base.
So distance was 9999 for restricted HQ, but the actual range from offmap for Allied player was changing to a hex range. And thus was not the 'invalid range code' 9999.
Fixed in q7

OK, but I wouldn't even let restricted air units be shipped unless changed to an unrestricted HQ.

Originally what I thought would be done would be to 'unblock' those returning restricted HQ units previously 'unchangeable' (like the Dutch air units) so that you simply had to pay the PPs to change the HQ to an unrestricted HQ, and thus be able to move them.

I'm getting the impression that the current solution is more complicated...

Addendum: just got some Philippine units in SF last turn. No problem there. The units arrived Restricted with changeable HQs. Using q6 still. Will be changing directly to q8 shortly.

If a permanent restricted unit manages to get into the pipeline, it should arrive as a temporary restricted unit.

It is harder to get  back local units under the latest betas in line with the 'restrictiveness' of these local formations (DEI, Phil, etc).
