Well it certainly looks like we have lots to look forward to in the future of new wargames. If SPWaW is any indication of what we can expect, we are quite fortunate indeed. Thanks!!!!!

Isn't it great. I am looking forward to Combat Leader. From what I have seen so far it looks like SPWAW with all the little things that could not be included.

Like I've said, its like "Son of SP:WaW meets Close combat" with a little of the original Squad Leader board game thrown in...

Paul, The game really sounds great! Maybe this is published somewhere and I just missed it, but does Matrix have any estimate on a release date? Perhaps even "Winter 2001"? WW2'er

Will we be able to participate. I'd like to see leaders names that are from the gaming community as well as matrix. My uncle Dick served in WW2. I love seeing his name pop up in Cmbat Mission. Also will we be able to try out beta version for comment and feed back or will that be held to a few selected folks. I guess what I'm getting at is that CM did a great job of involving gamers through out the production time. Because of that BTS hit big with rabib fan support. I want matrix to be even bigger. Any thoughts as to Matrix production plans as they relate to PR?

Paul Vebber: I suppose Combat Leader will have a purchasing system, will it not? If so, this eliminates the problem of only being able to have units cost no more than 255, right?

Charles - the new game has four values associated with availability "buy" cost, victory value, rarity and a rarity modifier. Weapons and formations have rarity values also that play in what is available to the player. The rarity modifier adjust the rarirty near the begining and end of its avialablility dates (high ramps up quickly - low ramps up slowly and same down again on the other end.)

Ah, sounds like there will be more strategy involved in purchasing.

May sound a little corny, but would like to see some way of recognizing "Aces", say maybe tiny green star or cross on or near unit icon for certain amount of kills, next a different color for next level. Cant wait for this next endevour. You guys have brought many "old" boardgamers back into the fun of it all.

I think that extra mile that we could not go with SPWAW will be reached and exceeded in this fine new game, "Combat Leader," a real winner! Wild Bill ------------------ In Arduis Fidelis Wild Bill Wilder Coordinator, Scenario Design Matrix Games

Not replacement, as work will probably continue on SP:WaW (albeit at a slower rate). Combat leader is one of the NEXT things. This time, bring your wallet About time I can pay for some of their hard work. ------------------ Robert (Bonzo) Lindsay, Coordinator 28th (North-west) Battalion Headquarters Main http://nwbattalion.tripod.com Mirror http://dreadnaught.home.icq.com E-mail nwbattalion@icqmail.com

SP:waW work will pretty much stop for a while after 4.6 we will support SP:MW development as the "next thing" in SP development. Combat Leader looks to take a half-step up form Close Combats scale and a half step down from SP:WaW's scale and ad a smattering of board Squad Leader. We will be listening to Close Combat fans and what they never got, and the things we could not do to SP:WaW and do a new game - capturing elements of each past game, but taking a fresh look at tactical combat - focusing on the "Combat Leaders" those men who had decisive impact on a battle. And "zooming the scale in" to get to some detail we could not get at in SP. I'm sure we will entertain name lists from the community:-)

That sounds like the best solution I have heard yet for the old problem of conflicting requirements for a points system. I love it!! Reg.
