Played in the past WitP for hundreds of hours. Gamespeed acceptable.
Now I updated to AE 06i and after a lot of changing the switches I can't get an acceptable speed.
Using the minimap for quick theater-changing, it takes up to 12 seconds befor the mainmap responds.
My PC is based upon an Athlon64 *2 Dual Core 6000+, ATI 4800 and 4 GB memory.

How many seconds should this action take?

Anybody suggestions?

Here is a switch I use in my shortcut:

-cpu1

This makes it be more efficient on my machine for the user interface.

Another thought is, do you have any hot keys turned on when you are navigating around the map? I find that the more stuff I have turn on the slower it navigates. So, I only turn them on when I want to see something, and make sure they are off when I want to scroll or jump to a different area.

Have you tried these switches
I'm using -SingleCpuOrders with a AMD Athlon 64 FX-62 Dual GeForce 7950 x2
response using mini map is about 1-2 secs

-SingleCpuStart : Starts the game in single CPU mode. Switches to multi CPU mode if
available later. We’ve found this to be useful on some multi-core systems, especially AMD
processors.
-SingleCpuOrders : Starts the game in single CPU mode and stays in single CPU for the orders
phase, switches to multi CPU mode for running the turn, then switches back to single mode for
the next orders phase. We’ve found this to be useful on some multi-core systems, especially
AMD processors. Use this or –SingleCpuStart, not both.

Also, I have found that AMD processors often benefit from -dd_sw switch (Direct Draw_Software), at least for me it made map to scroll lot better.
