Tomorrow the B29's make their operational debut 50 of them are ordered to support an airstrike on Palmyra as my carriers do a flyby providing escort.

I am hoping the sheer number of fighters will give PZB pause........

Lets see what happens

Terapo fwell today and Merauke will be next

Are you trusting purely to react, or are you also keeping your carriers moving a few hexes each day so that PzB can't calculate an 8-strike hex? Couldn't react result in half your carriers reacting and half staying put?

Yea Andy, i have to second this :)

Troop unload in more than one turn is a bad idea :)
No Corps HQ is a Bad Idea, might mot ne neccesary here but for heavier fortified bases it is a must have.
For heavy fortified/garrisioned bases use an army HQ too. Got double the unadjusted AV in an deliberate Attack in 6/44 with Corps and Army HQ.

Combat Engineers are not that important i think. The Divisions have quite good organic engis and the small 30 AV units get disabled in the first turn, so not impressive.

There is a Defender: disruption(-) missing. Dont do that :) Always use one of the escort surface TFs with a few BBs (i prefer > 4) 5 dds and the rest CAs and do a bombardement after the turn you land (you can do it the turn you land too for the first shock). But defender high disruption is a must have :)

And did you use an Amphib HQ ? You got quite a lot of disruption, not good :)

No BB's left only have 6

Corps HQ is on second wave

All troops unloaded in day 1 rest of force is en route as part of second wave

Plenty of supply

Disruption less than 10 in all units

Heavy air strikes ordered for tomorrow

Lets see what happens

Then there is a serious problem with the way you loaded your assault. All of your units ashore are fragments. That means the assigned leaders are with the parent units. That in turn means that the fragments - the ones ashore doing the fighting - have computer-assigned leaders. Very likely many of those leaders are poor, and certainly it's true that they are not the exceptional leaders that you want in charge.

for some reason I mostly end up with a few support or motorized support squads left behind, after loading - the info always tells me that I have more than enough space, but some get left behind anyway... - loading the units, waiting until they are loaded without giving them a destination, seems to fix this usually - sometimes not though...

only if you bring MUCH more transport capacity than needed this doesn't happen...

just my 2cts

But not when I went into the turn

I could swear that I've seen that too a few times. In the midst of sending other bug-saves I never pulled any of those. I don't have any, but maybe you could give a save to Michael because it sounds off.

Last turn one of my Divs decided to attack on its own with predictable results

This turn my CAG wasted a full deck strike on Fanning Island because Christmas is closed - grrrrrrrr

PZB's MTB;s are avoiding my DD's and causing mayhem small dd flotillas are everywhere but achieving little

Now waiting on 2nd wave before I attack again as he is stronger than I realised so I will spend next 6 or 7 days softening Japanese up

PZB is upset by the patch 2 fix to the Judy - I have pointed out that I know nothing about it but I know it was debated at length at the time the change was made and Timtom is the expert who made the change not me..

I have also pointed out that I didnt even know about

lastly and with absoulute sincerity my email below sums up my feeling on the issue nicely

- I did offer to go back to the turn pre we applied the patch if he doesnt want to have this impact but if we stay where we are then.....

"Ps boo hoo my heart bleeds… ;) so now you can only strike me from the same range with Dive bombers but still launch a free hack with torpedo bombers….

It is an irrelevant issue now anyway I have been forced to put my carriers onto react 6 no choice after two fights where I couldn’t launch a strike so even if you get into the sweet spot for a 3rd time my carriers have been forced to react with my most aggressive carrier admirals in charge – if I spot you my carriers will close as much as possible for a knife fight anyway !!!

I hate the lack of control but this 8 v 7 hex bullshit has forced me to use react something I swore I would never do – at least I know my CAG’s will launch if you get too close"

Not that I am in any way bitter over the 7 max hardcoding.....not at all

You mentioned you had a second wave... I would send it in
As long as he has kb and nearby bases delay serves the defender

I am a bit perplexed. This Judy fix has been around a long time. Perhaps a year.

We are beta testing a new data patch to fix the SD upgrade issue so PZB only got the impact of the original patch 2 changes a few weeks back so its new to him which is why I have slightly more sympathy than my post would indicate

Na John is great its a nasty surprise when it happens in mid operation and this one has hit him in mid operation because we only updated to patch 2 (witht he beta) a few days ago probably after hit fleet sortied so I would be pissed as well if I was him.

I am just less than bothered by it because
a. I cannot fix it and
b. I suffered over the hardcoded range twice

Turn from yesterday below his MTB's sailing past numerous DD flotillas to cause issues wave 2 is a few days away didnt really expect to need them but will probably bring them in in in 2 or 3 days
