Is resource management going to be better in the expansion? Resources are the game-breaker for me.

1. I am tired of trading valuable resources away to independent colonies. Yes, I'm going to need that Calson and Steel later on. I don't want to give you any.
2. A constructor is waiting on 8 units of Nekros Stone to put the lasers on a mining station. Never-mind, it forgot to pick up the stone at the home-world which had thousands in stock. Also, never-mind that the mining station is actually mining Nekros Stone. And never-mind that there have been half a dozen ships come and pick up Nekros Stone and are now delivering them throughout the rest of the galaxy.

So is resource management fixed?

It will be remade. Including to destroy the abundance htroughout the galaxy which sucks... no strategic value of mines etc.

By the way since WHEN is Caslon a valuable and rare ressource? Steel I can comprehend, especially if you build armored fortresses...

When caslon is valuable? You have never had fuel issues? A proper fuel shortage cripples you to tears.

Of course, if caslon shortage has crippled you in the past, you tend not to forget and make sure it never happens again...

I build a fuel station at every hydrogen/caslon giant I see... so no I did not.

I never said Calson was rare. In my current game, my initial stock of 18k of Calson dwindled away quickly because of trading with independent freighters. I have the refueling option set to trade agreement only, too.

Why would you build all those fuel stations if caslon/hydrogen got no value? Do you collect them?

Because I can not let my ship refuel by flying back home. Having a network of fueling stations is a difference to an abundance in a port.
And yes I collect "fuel" giants, as those can't be used by my opponents.

A typical (early game) scenario for me is to have 6000 caslon in stock at my homeworld and ships building that are going to use approximately 5000 of it to fill their fuel tanks. That's when an independent trader will reserve 4000+ (and take a year or two to collect it, not that it matters...).

I reckon these speed bumps are deliberately coded into the game.
