I used to read them alot when I was a kid. I collected them at one time. I discovered them one day when I was snooping through my older brothers stuff in the atic and found a whole bunch of Sgt. Rock comic books. I spent the next week reading all of them and continued to reread them for years. Probably not the best things for kids to read but it was the first thing that got me facinated with WWII.

A good trip down memory lane. How about the Navajo Indian P-51 Mustang pilot comic? I don't remember his name.

Hi Gary,

Yes Sgt. Rock and also the Haunted Tank were my favorites back
when I was a lad. I still have a few stashed in the closet. :D

...and I'm sure those comic books were a big part of what led some of us baby boomers to wargames & military history. Yeah, we need some SPWaW scenarios for "Easy" Company or the Howling Commandos. As for the Haunted Tank, I was thinking that it was a M3 Stuart, and somehow "Jeb" Stuart figured in. Reminds me of a Mark Twain quote: "When I was younger, I could remember everything, whether it happened or not. As I get older, I'm inclined towards the latter. "

Thank you all...I had forgotten I put all my comic books up over the garage in boxes years ago. I went up and dragged them all down...now my 7 year old son is in comic heaven...yes, I also have Sgt. Rock...unknown soldier, GI combat, Sgt Fury,The Losers, Fight'n Army,....and of course the horror and super hero ones.
Boy...talk about sitting in the middle of the kitchen floor,...and just reminiscing....surrounded by a slew of comic books.
Take care all,
Huffy
