How do you trade technology with other empires? All I can do is sell them technology that I have but nothing shows up for trading technology with them.

Which means they did not get any tech you don't have yet or be allowed to use.

I am in contact with three others empires and none of them have anything to trade but I have over ten different technologies to sell to them. Something not right.

They also may not want to trade tech to you yet, what is your relationship with them?

Regards,

You can't buy their tech unless they like you.  When they do more will show up in the trade window.  I actually suggested in the beta forums the player is subjected to the same, i.e. can't sell tech until relations are good to prevent tech selling spamming

I guess it could be that I am in first place and no one wants to deal with me.
I was just wondering if you could still trade tech.

The other empire has to like you a lot before they will trade tech. I think the relationship has to be +25 or more before they'll consider it.

Their trading now. And now I'm happy. I thought something was broken there for a while.

It has been easier (depending on your faction of course) to steal techs with spies than to trade them until now.

That's what I used to do - train up a spy then send him to steal tech from the ancient guardians (who have pretty much every technology!) every 3 months.

That's not so easy now!!

Good idea. Would mean all issues sorted before trading tech.

Another idea would that trading tech only gives you a percentage of the tech. Say random 40 to 80 percent. Would mean you still some research to finalise it.

When you guys have played a decent amount then feedback about tech trading would be a great idea. It has changed massively since ROTS. I know at least the following has changed but I might not have caught it all:

Tech is worth less the more Empires already know it.
Tech is worth a LOT less (almost worthless) if an Empire knows better tech.
It has been reduced how easy it was to get rep from tech trading.
AI empires will not skint themselves from your trades, they hold a decent reserve.
They are less inclined to trade tech, esspecially unique tech. They need to like you a lot more.
AI Empires will not give you as much money as they would sell a tech for to stop exploiting (how much less depends on difficulty.

I think what we was going for was still trading with your friends to keep each other technologically competitive but to change it from where it was in ROTS where the game become easy as everyone liked you and you had all tech from trading.

I've found the Shakturi a lot harder to deal with now I am not as prepared for their arrival.

I was quite surprised when the Ungari offered, without prompting, to sell me one of their Ungari-only techs (Situational Awareness AI). They were asking 1.3 million credits though, hah.
