Here's the turn 5 Axis moves:

EDIT: To the west of Moscow you can see some Soviet units moving as well. I changed my mind after I made the end-of-turn picture
grab of turn 4. So the Soviets appear to be moving during the Axis turn. It's an optical delusion.

I'm starting to pump some bombers back into the airbases. Bomber losses are going to go up but we'll get more ground support
happening. Hopefully.

It's turn 5 and 20,000 trucks were mobilized this turn and we're almost at par for trucks but not quite. But the movement rate of the
individual units might perhaps go up slightly when we finally get enough trucks.

Here's the northern end of the front lines. I'm hoping a double or triple stack of units might slow down the advance up here. I'm
showing the defensive values instead of the movement points to give you an idea of how likely they are to be able to stay right where
they are now.

Here's what Leningrad looks like now-a-days. I'm leaving the flag up on the 11th Army HQ to remind me that he's unemployed at the
moment. Maybe I'll give him some divisions in the coming turns.

The 31st Army is going to need some help. I'll see if I can't find a spare Army to start heading his way.

I railed in a bunch of air bases and stocked 'em with planes. Bombers and fighters and at least one recon dude.

Here's the turn 5 Soviet moves. More pulling back in some places and standing firm in others.

Hi all,

quote:

ORIGINAL: larryfulkerson

Um........I find myself with some time on my hands and one of the playtesters asked for anybody who has had recent experience with the AI and so I thought I'd give it a go as the Soviets against the Axis AI to see for myself how the AI reacts, etc. Another reason I'm going to
do this is that I need the practice. I've been loosing games and being on the defensive for so long in my ongoing game(s) that it's
starting to make my brain ache. Anybody who wants to lend a word of advice, let me just say that it would be WELCOMED and thanks
ahead of time. I feel like a beginner still because of so many losses so far and I've decided to keep practicing until I get better at this.

I'm fully patched up to the 1.05.42 beta version and I'm going to use "normal" settings for this first game.

The Axis has now flown the turn 1 air base strikes and done all their land combat moves and now it's the Soviet turn. This is the results
of the air war so far. I'm getting off easy it seems judging from the higher Soviet losses that humans can obtain from playing the Axis
side. So I'm not complaining about the losses.

Thanks for playing and writing AAR!

BTW, it might have been much more interesting if you played with Axis at 110% for better challenge (the AI still needs those "crutches" )...

So for the next game please try with 110% for the Axis AI!

I'll do the next game on 110% settings for the AI, roger. And thanks for your interest.

Here's the railroad situation near Riga. I'm still blocking the inportant rail routes going NE out of the Riga area.

While watching the Soviet moves movie I noticed some stuff in the Southwest Front area that I neglected to move so I moved it and
now the front lines look like this:

I thought I'd stop the war and do a boat-load of unit bombing missions. There were precious few defender losses on those strikes.

Here we have some air groups that changed types of planes via the game engine. In turn 1 I set all the air groups to manual
upgrade. So these groups that changed recently must be groups that formed since I set the upgrade to manual. So I guess that means
that the default for the game engine is 'auto' on the upgrade flag.

27 U-2VS's were lost to combat, only 15 were built, and I have 500+ of them in the pool because I disbanded all 10 of the U-2VS groups.
See the bottom of the list.

56 IAD is an airbase parked near Moscow and it didn't have any planes on it. So I went to assign some planes to it and found only
those who have too few ready planes to fly a mission this turn. But then I thought, the planes that need service from an
air base support group are those who have planes to repair....groups that won't fly. So I thought I'd assign the planes that were needing
service to the wrong 'type' of air base just to have some planes repaired. So now I'm wondering if planes assigned to the NR get
repaired while they are there or if they really need to be assigned to an airbase to be repaired. Since I don't know I'm thinking I should
park some airbases near Moscow that don't have any planes on them yet just so I can fly those needing repair to them. Maybe I can
eventually get the hang of fllying the 'bad' ones to Moscow and the 'good' ones back out into the field. Cool.

EDIT: Or easier yet, just rail the airbase to and from Moscow with the planes still on it. In to repair, out to fly missions. Just a thought.

While I was horsing around with the air bases I just happened to notice that none of my VVS air bases has any planes on them. Zero
planes. No wonder no partisan missions are being flown. Maybe I was a tad too fast in deleting all those U-2VS's. They could be
flying supply missions now. Well, live and learn.

I just now made a movie showing the Axis moves from turn 1 throu turn 7.  It's 13 Meg big but it's probably worth downloading and unzipping just to open the
GIF file with your browser and watch over and over the Axis move from Prussia to Leningrad.  Just a thought.

Click here to download the moves movie T1 - T7

There was an attack on my northernmost outpost ( upper left of map ) but my boys beat them. And it was 1:2 odds so I'm thinking
maybe they CAN hold their ground on this end of the line.

I did a bunch of bombing of units mostly just to run the Axis out of supplies faster but this time I saw a good proportion of hits.
