It always struck me as odd that the colonizable planets (everything excluding Barren) looked so airless and desolate.
Where is the thick atmosphere? Granted, most atmospheres irl are rather thin, but if you look at a planet from high orbit it is very much tinted in whatever color the atmosphere has. Not from straight above since it is too thin, but as the angle increases so too does the atmosphere color dominance over the terrain below.

This is something I've now tried to illustrate and bring into Distant Worlds. While the more "realistic" (debateable) would be a nice blue oxygen atmosphere everywhere, I chose to give the marshy swamp planets a greenish tint to seperate them and bring more variation. Same with the desert planets, I considered giving them more of a Martian red atmosphere but settled for something a bit more desaturated. A bit more close to what Mars looks like closer in. The ice worlds also had an internal debate in my mind, keep them atmosphere-less and barren like Pluto / Sedna, or add a slight frosty atmosphere as if Neptune / Uranus would have been a rocky world instead? I opted for the latter since it seems far more likely.
Hope you enjoy! (do note, I am also using the cloud overlay mod that can be found in this forum, did not include as it was not my work)

Hello

I bought DW legend yesterday and install all your mods today: Stars, Planets, background... with JSGEM, everything works well and look very good.

Thank you

Baleur, these are wonderful. Thank you for taking the time to create them!

I'm a DW newbie and the only way I could find to install the improved images was to overwrite the original game images -- is that right? Or is there another way to install these using a custom theme?

Hi

Download JSGEM, look on google.

Install it in Your DW folder, it created a folder named mod, and “the generic mod enabler” (just remove this two for uninstall JSGEM).

I have created a folder named baleur and extract all the baleur creations in.

I put this folder in the MOD folder and with the generic mod enabler, I just active my baleur folder, JSGEM create a backup in the MOD folder; disable it to remove the baleur creation.

if someone want explain better than me no problem...

Eric

Can just manually back up the images folder in your distant worlds directory, only takes a few megs and saves you from reinstalling :)
Or use JSGEM that pretty much works with every game, automatically creates backups :)

Thanks, Baleur! Got them installed in my game. They look great. Love the glowing lava for my Boskaran and Dhayut worlds!
