So I'm not sure if this should really go in the Tech Support as its not a bug but more of a design failure on the devs part:

I got this new colony governor but had no colony for him to govern so he was waiting patiently at the home-planet. When a potential colony did appear I immediately built a colony ship to go colonize it. Just then I had the (not so) brilliant idea of putting the character directly on the colony ship so that he would be flown over to the world on the colony ship. It turns out that when a colony ship colonizes it crash lands into the planet killing everyone aboard (except the colonist who are in on the entire thing). Anyway, long story short the colony ship colonizing the planet killed the governor that was supposed to oversee that colony when it colonized the planet.

Like I said not a bug but a design issue. It would be nice to see a character on a colony ship be added to the planet's character roster when it colonizes, instead of informing the player that the character was killed in a battle.

Still, great game, keep up the good work. Cheerio.

I did not know they crashed into the planet, kind of makes it a one way trip. I always thought they landed and then took the ship apart for builting supplies.

They do take the ship apart... they just do it quickly, with a crash.

Thanks for that report.

Characters move around the galaxy a bit differently. You transfer them between locations either from the Characters screen, or by right-clicking their destination and selecting "Transfer Character to LOCATION"

Having said that, your scenario does make sense - would be nice to get your new governor to the colony on the colony ship itself.

I'll add this to the list for a future patch

I was thinking it might be cool to be able to see "VIP" Passenger ships transferring characters, and be able to ambush them, escort them, send intelligence agents after them, etc.
Perhaps have each character transfer be handled by the private sector passenger ships, and get a charge to transfer them. The more you pay, the more secure your character is on there passage to the new location.

Glad to be able to give an idea for an already amazing game.

@Fideach I like that idea though it could have a few issues: Unless the character is making a really long trip the ability to find out about and then intercept the character-carrying ship is near impossible.

You have a point, so an easy way of doing it would have it be a random offer from pirates.. Something along the lines of them knowing this one fleet admiral, or ambassador of this empire has been giving you trouble. They found out he will be transferring to a new post soon and willing to sell you the information or for an even higher fee attack the transport for you.

Hell no. a VIP on board of a very vulerable ship. Special without an militaery escort ? Maybe it made sense for you, but not for me.
The Galaxy is infected with Space creatures and Pirates, both often guard colonizable planets. And a Colony ship is clumpsy and nearly got no shields not to forget to run out of fuel very often.

I just would put a VIP only on board of a well protected Military ship, so he can free and secure his new home.

I agree with Canute. I can't see sending my top rated Troop General, for instance,
on a colony ship instead of a full troop transport with military escorts.
That's like in World War 2, having your 4-Star General stepping off the first
landing craft on the beach on D-Day. Wouldn't be prudent at all!
