I am on my first game of Legends although I am a DW Veteran.

I was wondering what approximate size Ships you design for.

My frigates and escorts I will leave alone and auto upgrade via the upgrade this design button

It is preferable that they have efficient hyperdrives because they are for patrolling and pirate duty

My Destroyers are around size 300

They are about 130 Firepower

I have a destroyer design with about 5 ION Cannon's for killing the game's first SilverMist

I intend to leave my Destroyer/Escort/Frigate sizes small incase the AI pirates copy their design and tear a strip off the AI Empires

Cruisers are around size 400

I will max them out at 500 Size and then build Capital Ship's above size 500.

The Fleet Admiral's Ship is a Heavily Shielded/Armoured Cruiser at the moment I will always have them in Defensive Designs from now on.

I have not so far built a Carrier although I may when my cashflow gets better.

What size Carriers do you build? How big is large enough?

To be honest I never pay too much attention to sizes. I just worry about firepower and defenses and don't pay too much attention to size.

I did have some powerful frigates and destroyers, but never had pirates copy my design.


Good idea about Admirl ships.

At the beginning of the game I max out the size of all my ships, except for exploration ships and colony ships.

The class system I use for role and mission, not size.

Also, when you make the freighters all as large as you can you 'trick' the AI into paying more for ships.
