Possibly an irritating question for Jason, but it has been stated that MW will cover Middle East and Vietnam conflicts. Will it be flexible enough to allow modders to create Western Europe scenarios - cold war etc? Fulda Gap comes to mind.........

IIRC, Modern wars 2 may be covering that.

The full suite of editors will come with the games, as per usual, but as Mr RR suggests, Modern Wars: Volume II will be dedicated to NATO vs Warsaw Pact.

I would love to be able to re-create South Africa's war in Angola against the Cubans and Swapo.

The various 20th century African wars are slated to be included in Modern Wars: Volume II as a bonus game.

Modern Wars: Volume I: Middle East also deals with the French in Algeria and the border fighting between Egypt and Libya (late 70's). I also prepared some OOB information to deal with the fighting in Uganda (will double check when I get home). I may include a scenario or two about that for the 1.00 final release or for the 1.01 UPDATE.

Years ago I playtested a scenario for Combat Mission based in the Belgian Congo. I found the scenario at a website and this info.

Brief Description

In early August 1964 a force of several thousand 'Simba' rebels emerged out of the jungles to overrun goverment positions in Stanleyville, a city of 300,00 deep in the newly independent Republic of Congo. The rebels took more than 1,600 hostages and declared that any attempt by the Congolese army to recapture the city would precipitate the killing of the hostages.

111 days later, 340 paratroopers of the 1st Battalion, Belgian Paracommando regiment jumped out of 5 USAF C-130s and drifted down onto the tarmac of the Stanleyville Airport.

'Dragon Rouge', a multi-national rescue operation, was underway...

This scenario attempts to recreate the multi-national rescue operation in Stanleyville on November 24, 1964.

Anyone wanting more information on this operation can find it in the book Save The Hostages!

Mercenaries also had a major part in that conflict.
