OK...I couldn't resist. This title has always scared me because of the huge scope of the game and the price but the latest reduction proved too much to resist and I bought it for a birthday for me next month.

I hope I've done the right thing and can learn this game at my advanced age. I've loved playing MH: Commander Europe at War though its taken me a good 3 weeks to learn the game system. I'm not as sharp as I used to be.

Any advice for a noob to the WitE is appreciated!

You are not the only oldie around. Read the manual, read some AARs, read the manual again and practice on small scenarios whilst reading the manual yet again. If you want to do PvP, opponents should be easy to find even for the scenarios.
The hardest part will be to resist opening your present early.
