What is the difference between maintaining a unit at 100% readiness (so it consumes 50% "nominal" supply) and setting it to request only 50% from it's HQ?
Do we know how the rounding works when a unit with "supply use"=5 consumes 50%?
Ok, two questions, merry christmas.

Well, setting the units supply down to 50% is quite risky, unless it is a unit that stands still on a quiet part of the front. The reason i say that is because you are giving it no supplies for combat missions and such.

And i believe that supply is rounded up in that case.

thanks for the response, ernie. I am going to find an old saved game, create two HQs, each with a unit containing the same SFTs and keep 1 at 100% readiness, and cut the other down to 50% supply requests and see who consumes what. If anyone thinks this thread should move to the war room section, it's ok with me, I just dont know how to do it. If I get repeatable results form my little experiment, I will post them here.
