I've either been contacted from The Beyond, or Des is still with us on this side of the Rainbow Bridge!!!

Turns out his email account was hacked and the email I received was bogus.

Des Lives!!!

Ladies and gentlemen, I am very sad to pass along the news that our Thread Brother, DivePac88, lost his long fight with illness on November 28, 2011.

He was a special person, always full of good humor and wit. I never met him in person, but I know I am not the only one around these parts who called him friend.

Fair winds, Des!

Des was a good man and one of the lights of this forum. Always full of cheer and willing to help out a noob (he made my avatar and sig). I would have liked to have met him in person.

May you rest in peace, mate.

This is indeed a very sad day....

As I learned a lot from DivePac88's posts, and he was very helpful with us NOOB's.

Also he was a very funny Guy sometimes, and could make someone choke on there coffee.

Be at peace Des.

Marc.

I was looking forward to following his AAR and getting to know him better. I will miss that opportunity and it saddens me. Definitely a day of ill tidings.

It is very sad to hear, though I was half expecting the news. I was in a PBEM with him which he was finding increasingly difficult to work on given his deterioration.

I found him a generous and charming opponent.

Roger

R.I.P. mate

These events make me remember that, behind every single post, every single thread, every avatar or sign...behind this world of pixels and zeros and ones, behind all of this there are men of flash and bones...with families, loves, problems...with lifes...

My prayers are with your family DivePac

Very sad news.  Divepac was one of those gents from whom was "never heard a discouraging word."  Just a nice guy.  Blessings to his friends and family and all who will miss him.

The grammer and sentence structure might be a little less than perfect, but the thought is utterly flawless.

Rest in Peace DivePac88.

I too was in a PBEM with Des. A true gentleman who fought long and hard against a devastating disease. Go, be at peace, my friend

Not much to say. It is truly a sad day.

Every morning I walk my dog along the river near my house and say thank you for another day of life.

RIP
