updated WitE Manual v.032 for kindle?

Status: offline 		I loaded the updated WitE Manual -- the Dec. 1, 2011 v.0.32 edition -- onto my kindle. Unfortunately, it seems that kindle does not support the latest pdf version -- version 1.6 (Acrobat 7.x) according to document properties. Curse you Jeff Bezos.

Is it possible to save this version as an earlier pdf version that kindle does recognize (like 1.4 Acrobat 5.x) without using Adobe Acrobat? Like many folks, I just have the freeware Adobe Reader, and it doesn't appear possible to save this file as an earlier version -- although I certainly could be overlooking something.

Would love to be able to read the up-to-date manual on my kindle if possible -- appreciate any suggestions --

Status: offline 		um, am i seriously the only kindle user experiencing this problem?

i tried to use Calibre to convert to an earlier pdf version, but the re-formatting made portions unreadable.

if anyone has found a work-around to read the updated manual on kindle, i'd really appreciate hearing about it.

Status: offline 		Which Kindle do you have? I have the Kindle 3 and the latest manual loads up on it fine.

The only problem I have is that it has been password locked against editing, etc. Therefore, I cannot use the Briss program to cut out the borders to make it fit on the screen better. But it is still readable in Landscape mode.

Status: offline 		gah.  i have a kindle dx and the latest firmware is 2.5.8.  it's absurd that the dx, which is ideally sized for viewing pdfs, has such rudimentary pdf functionality.

Status: offline 		My one has I believe, firmware is 3.3 or something like that. Shame that they haven't upgraded PDF support on the DX, as you said it would be better for reading PDFs than the other kindles. I think Amazon list PDF support as only experimental anyway so they probably wont fix the issue.

If Matrix releases an unlocked version of the PDF, you could probably easily convert it to an older version using a free PDF printer like CutePDF. Unfortunately since the PDF is locked, trying to print it with CutePDF isn't allowed, it outputs one line of garbled text as the pdf document.

Edit: It may be possible with other PDF printers, got it working with pdffactory free version but that one creates an unholy large file size to get decent quality. Maybe experiment with other ones and see if you can create a pdf document that is compatible with your Kindle.

I have official licensed Adobe PDF Pro.

As Michael M (aka great good soul of WitP-AE who still makes almost daily patches for it ) reminded me I can set the PDF version when I create new PDF - I will lower it the next time I make updated WitE manual!

I simply didn't think of possibility that some new device would not be able to recognize the PDFs I made thus far (and now I learned that old Kindle is one of such devices - big surprise for me)...
