The exe michealm gave us fails to load....probably is because we're playin on the MP version and that one isn't....however we're on hold again....

Anyway crib...yes, that should be the case...however we know that even a small change in the orders given can rapresent a changed variable that changes the final outcome of the turn....anyway, there's nothing we can do about it but live with it and go on

What do u think guys....say we have those 6000allied AVs with all that armour facing in open terrain 6000jap AV with 6 forts...what could be the result of an allied deliberate attack? Should i try it before more troops get in? I think so.....

Too, it's not like the attack will wreck the Allied army.  If it turns out badly, you'll have some disruption, but you'll recover.  On the other hand, this will likely be your best chance to catch the enemy with minimal preparation for the units, probably alot of them, that are relatively recent arrivals.  Go for it.

Yes, absolutely agree. Ifq i manage to take down some forts now i will have a chance when the other waves will come! Anyway, about the timings....all my LCUs are now at hakodate...my ships will get back the nexit turn so in 2 turns we will start the loading...in 6 days we'll be back in force to hachinoe!

Hurrah!!!!

How many guns do you reckon Gen. Meade has on that ridge over yonder, General?

Bomb the daylights out of the enemy units in the hex (ground attack) and the surrounding hexes with enemy units. Leave out the most disrupted division and let them rest up for a Japanese counterattack.

Yeah that a killer argument here.....surely Lee alone screwed the South. He doomed the South to lose despite its numerical and industrial superiority and personaly sunk its mighty navy. After the war he served as personal advisor of Custer and that one didnt went well also.

Yep, I declared him an honorary Southern Gentleman for his unfailingly gracious attitude toward Rader and other board members.

The penguin thing and certain hirsute preferences were quietly overlooked.

Have you and Rader agreed to replay the last turn or so once the new patch is ready? Anf if so, simply reissue the same order given previously, or can you change orders this time around?

I would concur. It's high risk, but like CR said, your odds will only go down. If you fail to take the base quickly, IMHO you have to resort to massed 4E and 2E strikes in the open hex on his troops. As you say, in many respects sitting back and bombing Japan into poo is a more certain victory, but since you've swung for the fences the 4Es may have to be allocated here.

Lost causes are the only ones worth fighting for...

I remember reading about Goldwater's campaign slogan: "In your heart, you know he's right."

And LBJ's retort: "In your guts, you know he's nuts."

Holy coitus interruptus, Batman! I hope Michael can get this sorted.

There's no question you'll have to attack on Day One. That would be the best time to grind his forts down a couple of notches or so, and the lower his forts, the more effective your tac air bombing.

Good luck!

Cheers,
CC

On a ciold, desolate beach in northern Honshu:

princepBolton turns to his companion, Cap't Mandrake...."Mandrake, I say old boy, what is this you've started with that General Meade comment? I'm away a day and the American Civil War enactors all crowd onto the beach and start cursing and slinging mud at one another".

"Next, Ser Greyjoy has joined the Louisiana Zouvas, taken up zydeco music lessions, started watching reruns of Swamp People and gained his grey belt in alligator wrestling. It's not like it isn't dangerous enough around here, but I begin to think the good knight has acquired a death wish".

"Do you always bring this sort of reaction with your comments. I am well aware of what you did to Col. Ripper back in the states".

Ok guys, Michealm provided us the correct exe file, so as soon as our beloved Canadian wakes up we should be able to start back again.

Here's the situation:

We will land again...1300 ships will unload in 2 days 200,000 men on the beaches of Hachinoe. If the landings go as good as they went last time (finger crossed) we should be able to attack the very following turn.
Rader will be sending reinforcements as soon as possible, so we have to use this very tiny window for destroying some forts...i hope that the great amount of engineers we brought with us will be up to the task....we're facing 250,000 enemies with nearly 3000 guns...not exactly a walk in the park, but i think, with some air2ground support, we should be able to achieve a decent result.
Naval and air battles will occurr for sure...i expect the mighty combined fleet to be upon us very soon. But we cannot stop, not now...we have to keep on pushing, no matter the cost. We need Hachinoe...if we manage to get that base...then everything will be possible.
Hakodate will have to be guarded...i'm placing all my eggs there so i cannot let him close it...2000 fighters will be always flying there, along with 3 strong SCTFs and several DD divisions.
The Tokyo raid has really been important under this point of view...he will need some time to re-organize his bomber groups...and we can use this time to provide a small window of air superiority over the contested area.
His a/c factories have been mostly repaired...Franks "r" are already online and these beasts can tangle with the P-47s easily...but at this point is not anymore a matter of planes...is a matter of numbers...

Our ships will be back at Hakodate within 2 days after the landings...and will soon start to load the second wave. Time is not on my side here so i have to rush...

Then everything will be in the hands of the brave 10th US Army at Hachinoe...if those guys are able to start to crack the japanese perimeter, then the following 9,000 AVs of the second and third wave will probably be able to do the rest...

...if i close my eyes i see the waves of Betties that arrive on our landing fleet.. against thousands of allied fighters...can you picture the scene in your minds? 1300 ships unloading.... hundreds of CD guns firing from the beaches...1500 allied fighters fighting for the supremacy of the skies over the fleet...thousands of enemy planes that attack without solution of continuity...the flak firing crazily...magnificent!!!!

Looking forward.....

Well, it'll probably be more like hordes of Allied uber-fighters flooding the skies like a hollywood scene from the Red Tails trailer, where they can't miss and Japanese fighters are crashing down amongst their infantry.

But it wil be fun to vizualize.

Have you ever thought of going into writing screen plays?
