Indicators and Warnings

Subs

Burma
For some reason limited numbers our fighters sweep Silchar (see the image below, despite being set for range 1 they still flew). Fortunately no one was home.

He bombs Myitkyina trashing the place. Every days delay is good for us. Our 24cm howitzers give him somehurt back.

We will try our bombers somewhere different next turn.

We have about 70 Georges repairing. More units will be turn over to them soon. Then a mas ofa around 150 will be used.

DEI

OZ
We hit Carnavon port lightly.

Pacific
We sent a CA Tf after the lone Destroyer, followed it all the way to Midway but kept missing it bay a couple of hex. It has now got away.

China
We are entering a consolidation phase. Harassing thelast units out of the pocket, but leaving the door open... we want them to leave (after we have suitably trashed them once or twice) rather than killing them.

Forces have begun to move on Kunming.

Oil is building nicely in the Home Islands, and supply is back up over 600k. Fuel will soon get somebig boosts.

Waiting for Andrews next move, he isprobably waiting to see where our CV force is.

A bit of banter back and forwardson the Kuriles. We have fairly good garrisons already, with more heading there soon.

Burma we have bogged down.

Expecting him to head to Luganville soon. If he is smart he will also generate an axis of attack up the west Oz coast/DEI.

Anyway look at these fighter settings, about 10 aircraft from each unit attacked.

Don't forget big IJ air groups are inherently better at this than the US squadrons, too.

Here is the situation in China, the circled location is our main point of friction at the moment. There are masses of good Chinese forces from the Sian front on the move this way... should get interesting in a week or so.

I was able to destroy a months worth of B-24 production in two turns. Mainly because of Mr George!! Nice to see your doing well with yours. The question will be how many of my naval fighters stay as Zeros?? I also have Jack available in a limited number. Are they any good?? If so, at doing what??

My frustration now is one of my Frank R&D factories cannot get the last damaged point repaired. Its stuck at 29 (1) and another at 26 (4). Thankfully, I have one 60 factory totally repaired to get steady movement forward.

Yes George did good, but didn't get into the bomber stream, shooting down P-38 was the main aim...

Jack comes in Sept 43, we have no plans for it, poor range, poor serviceability, no improvement in firepower. Does have a bit better speed.

Our first Frank factories are down to 6-9. so withinn acouple of weeks we should have 120 produceing, a month or two after that we will be over 200 producing... expect it to be in service in Sep 1943 :)

Cheers

Rob

I ran a turn after my last posting and that Frank factory with only 1 damaged point left repaired. This will be my first game that 'hopefully' goes to the bitter end, so I am still making some production errors on my airframes and engine production. Is there much difference in the Tojo "C" from the "A" models??

Frank should come on line in July to August time frame.

Cheers

Rob

How much did you (and NY59 Giants if he's looking in as well) invest in the Frank? Just curious how much it'll take and how early you'll get it rolling. This looks like what, 3-4 months early?

I have one fully repaired size 60 Frank factory and a size 30. There are three more size 30 working on being repaired. So, I will end up with 180 R&D and hope to get at least a 5 month advance total. I will need to move at least two of those fully repaired R&D factories forward just before they go over to production and expand some of those from 30 to 60.

What are your production and future R&D plans for the Franks, Rob??

Great. Thanks.

So as I understand it, once the factory is repaired you can either keep it to use for production, or change it to another R n D project in the upgrade line and have it fully repaired to start off on that one? Is this realistic R n D ON or OFF?

Can you then skip versions, say for the Frank, and have it research the last in the line, or just the next?

Here is our Frank production. The number of factories is about right, probably shouldn't have expanded as much though. Half will go into production, the other half will go on to the next model.

Yes you can skip a model, we did that with the Tojo IIC, however what we found that production factories need to go through the a, b, c. We went from a, to c, and had to repair the factories :( We hadn't researched the b so it wasn't available.

So we aim to research twice the number we want in production, so that half go into production, the other half continue on.

As you can guess there are lots of others we haven't researched!

23 March 1943

Indicators and Warnings
There are over 100 allied unts detected in north east Australia. There are around 10 divs worth of Allied combat power not accounted for, he has a number of places that are defended so he probably has around 6 div free for offensive actions. All the indicators are that this will occur into the SWPAC area. We are watching Perth closely though (extra forces have recently arrived there... maybe in respose to our raid). Melbourne and Adelaide are also being watched.

Lookig for a big build up of ships... not seen yet.

We are slowly clearing the subs from around Japan.

Burma
We hit Katha and moderatly defend the air over Myitkyina. He also attacks the reinforcing 12th Div that is marching hard to the sound of the guns. Next turn we will be putting up a bigger effort, in particular over the 12th Div.

Then with the aid of Paras (the third para Bde he has available) he shock attacks, dropping the forts, coming close, but loosing twice the casulties...

We are also hitting Carnavon daily. Keeping it supressed for the moment.

China
The usual. We are waiting for forces to come up to attack Kunming. While we are waiting the airfield is being trashed, and the ground troops hit as well.

With Myitkyina in burning danger and the big hit in China - any chance of a major update with maps?

While I'm following your adventures since the very first day, it's not allways easy to remind about the actual positions (and threats).

Seriously, this is highend powerplay by profs, and I want to know as much as possible

China Map
We are almost in all our planned defensive locations. These will hold any counter from the masses of enemy forces at Chungking.

We are advancing on Kunming, 2 divs there now, a coupleof more to follow.

On the Sian front he is pulling back, shortening his defensive line and sending forces to the centre.

Burma

At Myitkynia we have 2 div and 2 regiments. One div and the two regts are at 2/3rds strength. Not much supply in the base, but the troops are full.

In support of the defence we are infiltrating units onto the rail line back to Katha. He is countering.

At Katha the Allies have 2 bdes and engineer and support troops. We are keeping the airfied supressed.

South of Katha in the jungle the enemy has about 3 Divs, including the US 27th and the Brit 2nd.

At Shwebo we have 3 + Div, preping for Mandalay. On the left flank we have a div digging in.

Further back we have 1/3rd units starting to dig into the depth defensive line on the jungle edge out of central Burma.

Toungoo is a level 8 airbase, heading to 9. The central Burma bases are 7 heading to 8.

Supply is tight, but just sufficient. About 100k is on the way from the Home Islands and the DEI.

We are rotating our air units around in masses, except for at Taung Gai. There about 150 fighters are on permement 50% CAP to cover the central airbases. We look for opportunities to ambush using 150-200 fighters at a time. We also rotate the bomber units and their targets.

Andrew is now short of fighter airframes, so his ability to defend and attack more than one locality at once is limited. This makes our life easier!

This continues our strategy of nibbling around the edges to gain the ability to generate a tactical advantage then employ mass to achieve the real result.
