Another interesting thing I noted about production is that there are thousands of aircraft in the pool!

Not sure if it's WAD, but that's pretty much how the Luftwaffe ended the war.  Industry still provided the planes, but a lack of pilots and fuel left them unusable.  I don't see any Me-262s showing, I wonder if you'll get any.

That was my initial thoughts as well, but given that he also has a large manpower pool, surely if the Germans had spare manpower in reality they could've put more pilots into the extra planes. They'd likely be hastily trained, but nevertheless...

Then again, he doesn't have any fuel in the pool, so perhaps that is the limiting factor to training pilots, let alone fielding the aircraft.

Why isnt the AR-234 in any units yet? it should have been bombing by last christmas, cant you convert a bomber unit to use it?

also as far as the man power pool goes one in thirty recruits at this stage of the war should at least have the minimal ability to learn to fly so 300,000 in the man power pool should get you 10,000 pilots, but the question is can they be trained in time? would training be easier at this point in the war since he held back the russians, doesnt seem the game would model that.

I guess I just didn't think of that. I usually let the AI handle arcraft changes, now I have changed 2 units to fly the Ar 234.

And one could wonder, if they can turn out aircraft but have no rifles, couldn't they build rifles instead? Just ripping out the machine guns of all those aircraft would equip several divisions!

Turn 191. February 8 1945.

The Finnish position at Leningrad has collapsed rather unexpectedly. I don't really know how that happened. Maybe I forgot to move something...

Meanwhile, more SS-divisions than I have the rail capacity to move suddenly appeared!!!

The only question now is: Where should we launch the counteroffensive...?

Here are some of them, eager to fight and waiting for trains...

Turn 192. February 15 1945.

The front in the south is stabilising along the mountains. There are some pesky Rumanian turncoat infiltrators in the western Rumanian plains that might cause problems. Wonder where they came from, but I suppose they just crawled out from under some rock.

In Northern Ukraine, the pace of Soviet advance has slowed appreciably. I park some of the newly arrived SS-divisions behind the front on reserve status, hoping to cause some unexpected holds for the Soviets. Otherwise there is a sudden surfeit of riches; I still don't have the rail capacity to move all the reinforcements to the front.

Comment: IMHO something is obviously not really right when units arriving from the West have 10 times the combat value of the average unit in the East.

Check morale of low units.

Units can have same number of tanks, guns and men, but one has 8 cv and other 1 cv because of morale.

Yeah, a fresh unit joining a battle in reserve mode can make a mess of the attack.

Yes, spoilt his day. Probably his march to Berlin in time??

Tarhunnas and all,

Happy new year.

This is a great AAR. I read it this week-end and it provide me a good insigh of where the game is leading.

Currently I play Russian un a PBEM, v. 104 game 41 45 with a friend of mine. We are in august 42, and I think after reading your AAR that we need to up-date the game to 1.05 to avoid the armement issue or at least lessen it for my german opponenet.

Could it be done in the middle of a PBEM ?

Again, very inspiring AAR and sorry for my poor english.

Michel92 you would need to restart the game to avoid the 47mm atg ARM bug if thats what you were referring to.

January 1942 is probably the latest a game could be saved to avoid the bug.

Kamil vs Pelton was border line.

Hello All,

Thank you for your answer. Let see if I have understood it well.

To avoid the 47mm bug I we will need to restard the game from the beginning or at least from jan 42 ? We are playing since September and I am not sure, or if fact very sure, that we won't restrart from scratch.
We have around 3 years to go in the game and I am not sure that it is worthwhile to continu if the german et must first cope with the soviet resilience, the second front, the strategic bombing campain and so on AND is, on top of that, doomed by a bug that can't be fixed.

This is a sad news...

Tarhunnas, who played more than very well the german, has an army that is bathered partly do to the bug, and still continue to fight to the end may be an exception in terms of willingness to finish the Grand Campain as a german in this condition.

Ciao,

Michel

P.S. Please be indulgent with my English
