Just wondering if anyone has made a "secret" personal mod for a race that represents them? If so it would be cool to see

This thought has crossed my mind recently, but I can't quite put my finger on what would be right. I quite like art and music and despise those who deem money to be the most important thing in the world. So I guess it would be a Utopia government and definately no trade or mining perks.

I'm also very interested in history, especially ancient history and the Romans and also think that every succesful society should have a strong, organized and technologically advanced military. So I think military would have to be pretty strong, but always diplomacy first of course, so + to generate diplomats.

I'm a water sign so I'd start on Ocean world.

I never studied hard but am quite intelligent anyway, so I guess intelligence would be around average.

Now this race is starting to sound overpowered

Fav colour, Brown, Blue or Green, I'd go for brown ships with blue or green windows/trim.

What would your race be like, tell us now

I actually tried to make a completely custom race from scratch back in the day when I still played GC2. The race was basically a transhumanist offshoot of The Terrans. Their society was divided in parts that showed different states and variations of posthumanism.
I worked on the race for a while but got other things to do and games to play. Also, the games editor gave me some frustrations from time to time.

Nowadays it's hard to say what kind of ideal society I would build in a game. It would probably be mix of several, like pure democracy (demarchists), hive mind and technoracy.
The society would be oriented towards science, exploration of the Universe and general curiosity towards our known reality. People would have wide freedoms in ways of living as long as they would do their part for the greater good of their nation, and they don't harm others with their actions.
Personal responsibility, honor and honesty would be very much respected amongst people. Espionage is accepted as necessary evil in diplomacy between races, but is shunned otherwise.
Military would be technologically advanced, "quality over quantity" type of organization which hasn't got privilileged position in the society. Service in the military is still highly respected as individual is willing to sacrifice their live protecting his/hers/its nation and its values. "It's so much easier to be peaceful with the most powerful fleet in the Galaxy" would describe the military well; It's not used for attacks and expansion, but to keep trigger-happy races at bay.
Also, military would be important in testing new technology, thus making it a kind of branch of the nations scientific section.
War is still seen as last resort in most of the situations. Still, pre-emptive strikes against overly aggressive and militaristic "Darwinian" races would be accepted to maintain balance of the Galaxy.

Some sort of elitism could be considered as a problem for this nation; Other races, especially races that are inferior in development, are many times considered as misguided and/or even primitive. Clearly less developed races are usually manipulated cautiously and impercptibly to shape them towards ideals that are seen to maintain balance between races and to benefit the nation.
Finds of major scientific significance are also usually guarded jealously from other, "primitive" races who wouldn't understand the value of these finds and would use them for their own selfish needs. Yeah, sounds hypocritical and that's exactly the point.

Continental planets would be the preferred planets for expansion, but desert planets and mountains of marshy swamp planets would also work.

Main color would be all shades between white and black. Brighter colors would be used as contrast, for markings and as a color for civilian vehicles, ships and techonlogy.
Spaceships would usually be between silverish grey and black depending on their role, bright contrast colors used for some light decoration and markings.
"Whatever you do in life, do it with style." as some Finnish thinker once wrote.

I could wrote about my custom nation all day, but this short version should give quite good picture for now.

Kiadians, Faeyans, Culture, Demarchists, Conjoiners and Advent (without the religious aspect) come to mind as examples I'd take (and have taken) influences for my custom race.

My race would be a completely peaceful but highly curious race, with exploration on all levels as a top priority. Expansion and colonization would be extremely low priority, heck a homeworld even might not be present as anything else than something that was left long ago. Indeed they would be nomads living in ships on the move, moving from experience to experience. All would be interesting, learning through study of other races would be key. Technologically stealth, resource independence and the ability to travel wherever completely unhindered would be key. War would not be something to be bothered with, as non-detection, sensory deception and the ability to get away so fast would be so refined that IF detected a fight would not have occur. If mutual beneficial interaction where deemed likely actual contact with other civilizations would be highly likely, in the spirit of the friendly playful visitors, but not until the beings would not be considered gods, in either good or bad sense. Spying, not to steal anything, but to learn, would also be an aspect. If a civilization where deemed interesting but perhaps not ready for contact, genetic research would be initiated to be able to make look alike's, that could walk undetected among the beings and learn from their respective experience of being, their flavor and take on life. Perhaps even undetected assistance and support of other civilizations, that where deemed likely to flourish, would be initiated too, until contact was ripe, though in never evasive or manipulative.

Too quote Carl Sagan's alien in the manuscript for Contact: See, in all our searching the only thing we found that makes the emptiness bearable is each other... ...this is the way it's been done for billions of years. Small moves Ellie, small moves.

That's a race I would love to make and play - however no game have ever even come close to support it

So, instead I make a race like my take on the Psilons, that can research fast, act in the background so to speak and possibly support friendlies with techs or trade, but don't get involved with their wars and that gets so techie that no one dares to take a bite of them. Since conflict is unavoidable in most game setting in DW, I build lots and lots of ion cannon/pulse escorts, heavy shielded(around 1300), fast and eventually stealthy and good sensors and a few mass drivers that can chew through most ai builds very fast once multi-emp'ed by a pack. I rarely have more than one small condensed heavily specialized fleet, that mostly take on pirates that I don't want to buy. It got fast hyper deny shock emp frigates, mass driver rigged destroyers, various long range weapons cruisers, with shield support when available and grav-wells, and a few capitals stacked with hard hitters, possibly super weapons and super sensors. Carriers I only rarely use, mostly to avoid game lag, on bases fighters rock however!!
Spy wise I hunt intel and race techs but never use any of the militaristic missions unless if a race declares war on me and I want to force them to peace fast.

I have yet to make an epic run with a conquest race.

My race back-story is that a group of researchers went a bit to far with genetic modifications, so they were cast out from the human homeworld.
Big mistake.

As for all the other "personal" races above emphasis is again on technology. Anyone prefer a race that does not research like crazy?
