Looks like Jay's turn is up. I do happen to know that he is on vacation for a week.
In order not to stall the game for a week I'm sure he wouldn't mind that I would play his turn. Especially in the beginnijng the'turns are pretty straight-forward.
I will wait for SailingGuy as the owner of this game for the go-ahead.

I have no problem with that. You'll see where he is on the map, but I hardly think that would be too much of an advantage on a map this big. You'll have to email him the password.

Seems we are getting off to a very rocky start on this one. For my part sorry about the lack of familiarity with dropbox but now we seem to be moving into lack of availability for doing turns. This brings up the question can a 14 player game actually be undertaken with 14 peoples different schedules? If the participation level doesn't improve soon we might really want to look at restart with 8-10 players and pray that works out for us. Just bringing this up,I am certain I'm not the only one thinking this way.

If you can live with taking a turn once every two weeks. This is not my primary game, so I can deal with a slow turn around. However, everyone must be committed to turning the turn around in 24-48 hours.

If someone wants to start a 10 player game, I'll join that as well.

well at this point a turn take 5 mins max and I would think everyone could spare the time to do that once a day

I agree with you 100% on this at this stage of the game and the fact its taking so many days at this point bodes ill.

Perhaps we should explore another game as well, with less players who agree to do a turn a day if possible? I'm up for that game.

I'm feeling more than a bit of disappointment over this post. From it i get the impression you had an idea that this game would drag into week plus turns. The expected turn time frame was a major omission in the setup for the game and in pitching it to other people. If we can't gt together and attempt to quicken this turn pace we aren't going to get beyond turn#3. Suggestions?

The original "Game Opening" post included...
"2) Complete your turn within 24 to 48 hours if at all possible. If you are going to be away for an extended period of time, let us know."

Doing the math, one can conclude that a complete turn (with 14 players) might take as long as 14 to 28 days. That was the "pitch".

I think I made it clear up front that this was going to be an ambitious project, given the number of players. The intent was to try a game with the maximum of 14 players. The intent was not to have a game where players would get to play their turn every couple of days.

That being said, I just completed my first turn in six minutes after receiving it. However, I work at home, so have a pretty quick turn around time. Not all players have that luxury.

I understand that you are disappointed with how quickly the turns are being processed. It was not my intent to "mislead" anyone into joining a game they thought would proceed at a fast pace. I don't think I did.

My fault entirely sir, thought the 24 to 48 hrs was a complete round not a per empire turn. My fault for misreading, sorry to vent the glacial turn pace at you then when you had listed a turn around time for all to see.

All i can say is........ooops!

No problem. I know it's frustrating.

Is this your only email game? If so, we can start one with five or six players that would be much less frustrating.

Just let me know.

Didn't do an edit on my last post because i wanted to make sure this showed up as new. Turn done and passed on to CB.

Got a weird msg or perhaps it means nothing that: "The states cleared its log file"........hope that doesn't mean he has dropped the game.

It may mean nothing, or just that the player playing the states has used a different computer for the turn. It´s a warning that a possible cheat may have occured. Not saying it has.

I'd not worry about cheating, just thought someone might have quit. Not to mention that opening the game which caused a restart i played someone else's turn in my eagerness to start.
