Status: offline 		So...this other test with the night bombing wasn't sufficient...

A part from that, our defence of Sadogashima is growing stronger. Every day we inflict severe losses to the enemy and everyday the defences of the island become stronger.
We finally managed to bring some AA there, along with enough engineers to repair the damages that he, despite our stiff resistance, manages to inflict.
Now 2 more AA units are being delivered, along with some engineers vehicles.
...finally the AF is growing...1 and 10% for now...but i'm confident!

Usual patrols ordered for tomorrow.
50 more spitfires will rotate their comrades and the P-47s will be substituted on LRCAP by the P-38s.
A lot of ASW TFs will be patrolling those waters and our subs have created a ring of fire around Sadogashima.

A couple of weeks like that and the skies over the base will be uncontested.

While I agree completely and a similar episode with an experienced Japanese opponent as a UV newbie is the reason I have refrained from PBEM play in this game, I already have too much of a reputation as a Japanese player basher for me to allow this spate of bashing to fall on my shoulders.

All I did was ask an innocent question about how PBEMers deal with a protracted Pearl strike.

uuhh, oohhh, that wall isn't that hard in the beginning as I've just started another PBEM Babes 26B and while already the first strike on PH was devastating, the second one really didn't run into a flak wall either. I really look forward to having my ships flak working better later on.

I have seen DaBabes loss figures large enough to let the Japanese player have second thoughts on the benefit/loss
tradeoff of a second or third day of PH raiding, when taking exposure and attrition into account.

Yup, Kamikaze against Sagashima shippings.... i didn't post everything cause it wasn't interesting imho...
He uses as Kamikazes the Idas and the Oscars...

Another good turn guys.

will try to divide the different fighting pits of these two days...

Rader did a great effort with his subs, trying to interdict my shippings from Hakodate to Sadogashima, placing his dreaded subs in a fire ring around the contested Island.
It ended up in a great series of ASW fights...think we have sunk at least 3 subs and damaged probably 4 more (considering also air ASW), while losing a DE and 2 LSTs.

In the air the our british Spitfires (my Top Gunners) - 49 of them were based, divided into 3 different squadrons, at Sadogashima -, helped by the P-38s on LRCAP from Hakkodate, faced again the power of the japanese air force.
Several sweeps conducted by the best frames Japan can feature, followed by anti-naval and ground attack raids, was not too much for the Angels of Sadogashima. They stood right there, outnumbered and outgunned, till the very last moment.
Losses are high on my side, and we lost several great aces....but again we achieved a great overall result, keeping Sadogashima open and allowing 2 more AA Regiments and 3 Engineers units to safely arrive.
Soon Sadogashima will get to AF lvl 2...which will mean that the local CAP could be brought up to 100 fighters...

But the greatest moments were, as always, on the seas.... Rader tried another time the trick "of the second night"....so to say sending his SCTFs with way points calculated to let the TF arrive right on the second night....
We did the same.
We had 2 DD divisions based at Sadogashima, while 2 more divisions and a SCTF (3 Cleveland Class CLs + 8 DDs) were scheldued to arrive on the first night.
For the second night we had, a part from the 2 local DD divisions, a SCTF composed by the Boise and 2 Cleveland Class CLs, with several Fletcher DDs.

The enemy arrived on the second night... right when our amphib TFs were unloading... our DD divisions were caught unaware and didn't fight well...but they managed to delay the enemy (which put on the field a fast a nimble SCTF composed of 2 CLs and several DDs).
The Boise (Flag ship) TF did very well...especially well did our 3 CLs that mauled the japanese counterparts (pretty sure both of them sunk).
The japanese SCTFs turned back with a bloody nose and our amphib TFs were safe...and they delivered their precious cargos....

Still don't have the turn...only the reply...but i'd say that we achieved another solid 2-1 in the air and a major victory on the sea.

No mate, it'a a reply feature...my boys are still there unfortunately...the CD guns are so deadly that i don't try to evacuate...

But being there means Rader cannot moves out too...so it's a double edged blade

my opponent has lost less aircraft in two days in my PBEM (same the other two Babes PBEM I have started) than real life losses in one day. Flak at PH wouldn't keep me from sinking more battleships, not even if I would lose twice the number of bombers, easily replacable and 70 skilled pilots work perfectly.

At the moment we're still testing the night bombing effetcs Micheal...so i won't do these kind of attacks untill we have agreed on an HR that is liked by bith us us.

Anyway guys...i've made some calculations...

from October 18 to October 28, Rader has lost 2560 planes, against my 650...(included the great CVs defeat...)

How long can he stands these incredible losses? I mean...we know he has infinite numbers of planes...but what about the pilots? He's being fighting over allied controlled lands...so something like 1250 pilots lost

It became exactly what i wanted to...a fighting field to attritt the japanese forces.
Rader has gotten a couple of bloody noses with his Navy and his AirArmy is crushing its teeth on the wall built by our "Angels".
My losses are high but i'm rotating every day the air units (and so the plane types) involved in the air battles so my pools aren't suffering that much.

Status: offline 		My old friend Cooper-Sliper is still fighting...after 3 hospitalizations...he fought for the whole Battle of India, over Tulagi and over Rekata Bay...and now he's back at Sadogashima...with the usual killer instinct

Either win the air war knowing this limitation or find a way to win other than the air.

But my pilots will then get better and better...which means that i will compensate the quality gap of my planes with the quality advantage of my pilots... which is a good thing imho!

The idea is that, once Sadogashima is secured and built up to level 7, i will be able to land another strong invasion force without the need of CVEs or CVs...

Status: offline 		Takes about 3 months to train a pilot to air skill 70, so you have to inflict greater damage on his pilot pools than however many he can train in that time.

Seems like a tall order normally but the numbers involved in this game are BIG.

I have no real idea what Japans capability for training pilots is. I am led to believe that is considerably greater than the Allied ability to train pilots as they have more and bigger squadrons that can be used for on map training. However they lose a lot more pilots too, in their balsa wood planes. Still... if you eased back presumably in 3 months time he'd be back to fully trained pilots again so you just have to maintain the pressure and not give him that window.

There is no doubt is pilot quality is low, but so long as he holds the territory he does, he will be able to produce aircraft that you won't even put a dent in.

Status: offline 		Yes guys, i know i cannot look at the plane losses...but the more pilots he lose over my lands, the more my pilots get stronger. And we're just seeing what this mean...his Shidens, for example, which are far superior to anything i can put on line, are falling like dead bugs against my Top Gunners.
So this whole process is helping me a lot in negating him the quality edge he has taken with his last generation of fighters.

As long as i proceed over these lines, i think i can put a solid basis of air predomination once the P-51s and the new P-47Ns will become available

Well, the very last 2500 planes lost by Japan were shot down over ocean waters or over Sadogashima (so allied hands)....i count at least 1000 pilots lost in one week....
