Just a note to let you know that an alpha version of WitP has finally made it out to the testers. There's a lot left to be done, but at least Matrix testers are able to start giving their input.

Thanks for the news ! I can't wait for it to go to Beta, and then start reading AARs as was done with UV.

Trust me Admiral, a lot of work goes along with that privelege. I'm not just saying that to make it sound like beta testing isnt all fun, either.

Ok, it's a lot of fun.

But it really is work.

Mostly fun. :)

How did you get into Beta anyway?

Hard to believe I am close to 3 years waiting on this game. So many times you think it just is never going to happen. :(

I think most of the betas are carry-overs from UV who asked for the opportunity when they requested volunteers. There have been a few additions since then but I dont know how they are selected.

Cool, I remember reading they actually expect you to test and not just play the game. :D

I didn't get picked for alpha on this go-round. My approach to testing it to see if the program can be "gamed". That's ok, because I'm amusing myself with UV quite well anyway.:)

That could be one of the reasons why the quality of the game s what it is. Awesome!

Early feedback from me would be beautiful map and the game is going to be HUGE. I have seen some request on AARs. They'll be coming I'm sure but it's too soon now. Right now we're looking at the major issues and just getting use to the grand scale.

Can anybody of the Alpha testers mayby answer one of my questions. (these have I all posted in the past)

1. Are in WitP also upgrade paths for the equipment of the ground units. Some examples:

-Tank bn's has in the begin of the war M3 Stuarts. And on the end M4 Shermans.

- USMC squads had in the begin of the war 1x BAR. In 1944 3x BAR, demo sackets etc. Or better say more firepower. Are there differend squads?

- LVT1 to LVT5 amtracks.

2. Does WitP also include

* Differend Amtracks and units.
* Junks and other local vessels
* Guerrillas
* Helicopters
* Special Forces.
Examples:
- 6th US Ranger Bn (And there where plans to raise the 7th US Ranger Bn if there was a invasion of Japan)
- 1st Special Service Force
- 1st to 4th Marine Raider Bns
- UDT Teams
- 3rd UK Commando Bde
- Marine Force Recon (Exist from Jan 1942)
- Alaska Scouts
- OSS Detachment 101
- Alamo Scouts
- Merrill's Marauders
- 7th Amphibious Force Special Unit #1 (a joint Army, Navy, USMC, Anzac LRP Co, exist from 1 March 1943 under Commander W. B. Coultas and is used in New Guinea and New Britain.
- 5217th Reconnaissance Bn (from October 1943 and use in the Philippines)
- Chindits
- Australian Independent Companies (Commando's)
- South Pacific Scouts
- 1st and 2nd Commando Fiji Guerrillas
- Korps Insulinde (Dutch SOE Commando's exist from December 1942)

We have a non-disclosure agreement which prevents us from answering questions related to what will be in the game. Some of these we couldnt answer anyway, because there are many features and updates which are still being worked on, and we dont have that list.

The best I can say is, some of those things will be in and some wont :)

Enough talk you A-Bs (Alpha-Betas) get to work! Seriously though, your fellow wargamers appreciate your endeavors, my $70 is burning a hole in my pocket, but will await your thoroughness.
