IIRC, Level bombers flying lowN(below 6000ft) mission carry reduced load and suffer additional morale penalty. This is designed to prevent them from becoming anti-ship killer.

Is light bombers included by this rule? If I'm using light bombers to do lowN or ASW, do the already tiny loads further reduced in half?

How can you tell what are attack bombers? AFAIK the game only makes mention of "light level bombers" and "medium level bombers"

per Tracker, only 9 Allied level-bomber types qualify as attack bombers (all USArmy unless noted):

A-20G Boston (Aus)
A-20A1 Havoc
A-20G Havoc
A-26B Invader
B-25D1 Mitchell
B-25G Mitchell
B-25H Mitchell
B-25J11 Mitchell
PBJ-1H Mitchell (USN)

you'll only get 1 month's production of 20 A-20A1s on 9/42, then it'll be a year before you see any more. (this from dabigbabes_B, other scenarios may vary.)

These are the only planes that will strafe and suppress flak at low levels as well. Fighters and fighter bombers will strafe but not suppress. Dunno why but that is it.

i'm in early days (March 42) against the IJHQ in a dabigbabes GC scenario. i've been training all my float-planes, and half my patrol planes, for ASW & LowN at 1000', they are steadily ramping up in ability.

but that only applies to non-Army groups. i've been having worse results training USArmy sqns for LowN attack at 1000'.

so my advice is, to set a group or 3 of USArmy planes to train for LowN attack at 100', to build up a cadre of pilots w/ 'Strafing' talent, these are the guys you'll need for your 'attack bomber' sqns.

I use attack bombers all the time, against ground and naval targets. They are pretty good I think!

One wrinkle is that they need 3 skills trained to do well which makes them the most difficult to train pilots of all. (LowN, lowG, strafing).

Yes, but never neglect regular bombing skills. In a pbemail game this will be their prime mission 80% of the time.
