Pegu has troops heading towards Rangoon and up towards Toungoo.  2 units are heading towards Taung Gyi.  I have ordered Fulmars are going to straf Pegu.  2Es will hit the others.  Sweeps will also lead the bombers.

Ndeni
I sent a 4 DD TF to find out what the 10 ship TF was it was an 8 xAKL and 2 DD TF.  We sink DD Odi (how is Garfield going to take this news) damage the other DD and rough up 4 xAKLs.  2 of those were in sinking condition.  They were carrying troops.  DD Cummings did most of the damage to the Jap TF.  She took a shell and is lightly damaged.  The other 3 DDs will go after a 4 ship TF, heading back to Laguna.  Most of Rangoon is evacuated.   Our bombers again didn't fly after the TF.  I even put a fighter unit on Escort to help them out but no.

Kendri
25 B17Es hit the AF mod damage and 11 Nells destroyed on the ground with 4 Mavis.  His Oscars swept Ambon and found nothing.

Christmas Island IO

Christmas Island PO
2 Jap sub encounters. 1 US DD eats a fish and is in a bad way, with only 1 hit on the sub.

Adak

Rangoon
The last of the troops will be leaving in 2 days.  I figure about the same time the Japs roll into the hex.  Koniu trys to bomb the main body of soldiers that left Rangoon.  This cost him over 20 Sallys damaged with 4 shot down by flak.

N Burma
Sweep of 32 Oscars comes across my Hurris and Mohawks.  Both sides losing around 5 AC.

Darwin
If the KB makes a port calling here, she will be met by 130 fighters.  Lets hope he comes.

China
Hes moving his forces around.  I have my foces at Ichang, I will test the waters tomorrow with a bombardment attack.

Java
IGs Div shock attack our Dutch troops here.  They stand tall again.

Adak
Intel says an AA unit is prepping.  I am trying to move some CD guns and more AV here before he gets here.  I think I can get 250 AV here pluse maybe 16 155 CD guns.  Lets hope.

Besides ACM's what else will manage minefields?  I don't see anything the Brits have that can do that.  Also can an ACM manage minefields that are not MK 6 mines?

3rd May

KB Timor AO
MKB unknown

Ichang
Ichang we loose 1,000 troops to air and art bombardment.  Japs have 2 reg IDs and one Temp ID with 2 eng rgts.  We have 1,650 AV to his 1,000 AV.  I don't think that I can do anything positive here.  So I am thinking of withdrawing the troops.

Changsha
we shoot down 3 Oscars for no loss.  Our guys didn't even go after the bombers.

Rangoon
Koniu trys to bomb my main column of forces and suffers again.  Around 20 damaged Sallys with 5 shot down.  No damage to my troops.  I am hopeing the last of our troops will be out of Rangoon tom.  He must of had his troops on move orders because they are in Rangoon now.  I do believe that he brouth alot of forces with him.  I do see atleast 2 tank units.  His troops are moving fast up the roads.  Thanks Alfred on the heads up to move early.  I didn't expect them to move this fast.

Lauteum
xAK is sunk by KB trying to escape.  Subs have are being moved to intercept the KB.

Pacific Ocean
I see several convoys but can't reach them with anything.  I don't think he has many AC in this area either.  I am getting away with alot of movement close to his lines.

That now makes 8 identified TWITs. Makes it difficult to understand why the American unemployment rate remains so high when there are so many jobs going at HQ Zuluhour. Surely there are enough TWITs over there to allow for job rotation through DOCUP's HQ.

Jap sub misses an xAK but hits an xAP.  ASW TF is moving this way.

Burma
Jap forces are moving quickly.  May have to retreat to northern Burma.

China
No more free supplies.

Not much more going on.  Troops, supply, and fuel being moved.  Beefing up Adak, Burma and India coastlines.

It looks like Koniu has alot of forces in Burma.  3 IDs with supporting troops to a recently abondoned Rangoon.  A total of 21 units are moving around in Burma.  I know of 2 tank units, 2 IRs, 2 AA, and 5 arty units.  So thats 11 units Id'ed.   There was 4 IDs in Java, can only confirm the IG Div now.  China is full of troops.  PM has a ID plus supporting troops.  I know there are several Bdes around Rabaul and the surrounding islands and those prepping for Adak.  How much more does he have?

IIRC, in scenario 1 Japan starts off with 10 unrestricted divisions (plus several unrestricted bdes/regts). Of course 6 months down the track additional units could have been bought out with PPs.

Thanks for the Info Alfred.  Lets hope he dosen't have eyes for the Timor region.  I am beefing up the subs in the area.  I also have 8 fighter sqds in the area also.

Is it wrong to name a ship after your opponents home town?

You have a reasonable chance that he might have placed Timor on the back burner. Seems that he is serious about conquering Burma quickly so he won't take away units from Burma. Particularly as you extracted yourself successfully from Rangoo. Those undefeated Burmese area units combined with the quality incoming fresh units will create a serious obstacle to further Japanese advance.

Bear in mind two facts about Burma.

1. The monsoon season is about to start. The value of enemy supply depots therefore becomes much more important during the monsoon season.

2. Look carefully at your LCUs which have Burmese squads. You should consider giving those LCUs priority to take reinforcements because those squads don't get better with time. Best to use them in battle whilst the delta with the enemy stats is not too bad.

3. Given time to gain experience and fill out their TOE, the at start green Burmese area units can become useful. The secret is to not suffer unncessary defeats, hence the point of abandoning Rangoon rather than trying a fighting withdrawal.

I see what you were saying about leaving Rangoon now.  I've lost a few of the Burmese units to bombings.  I think I will pull back from the open terrain to better defensive terrain and make a fight.  I also think Koniu has moved most of his AF here.  I haven't seen much in the other theaters.

I am hopeing to beef up Adak before he comes.  I think winter starts in a few months.  I know he can still land and win but I have hopes.  Get Adak up over 300 AV with CD guns, high forts and supply. Maybe I can throw another defeat at him.

DOCUP and zuluhour,

There isn't a really good consolidated hex covering all aspects fo para operations in AE. There are however several smaller threads which between them cover the subject adequately. Usually the key issues regarding paradrop operations which concern players are

  • what/where can be dropped
  • air transport plane supply/troop capacity
  • defence against paradrops

As the specific aspect of concern regarding paradrops was not identified, I have ... ahem ... taken the liberty and selected the following thread as the single most apropriate for your needs.

http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=2214610&mpage=1&key=air%2Ctransport%2Ccapacity

At first glance you might think it only deals with plane supply transport capacity but read more closely and it is more expansive. Don't make the common mistake made by many players of trying to attach too many expanded definitions of what constitutes a "point". In AE a "point" is merely the base measurement unit which is applied across the board.
