After 25 hours forty minutes game is downloaded. ISP miracle considering I used a free introductory offer to do it. Played first battle today. No idea what I am doing but looks great. Following problems noted: Units are not Panzer general 2 art masterpieces do you just learn to recognise them? Terrain and heights in particular hard to determine. What is the easiest way to id terrain and heights from screen? Played a single battle Russia 41 selected unlimited points and played Germans (not my preference) put a good pack of units together from 10% fraction of points available but seemed to have been attacked in June 41 by half a screen full of bt series (love that bt7) Is this a function of having selected unlimited points or am I in for a long Russian campaign. PS Thanks for all those that helped me get this joey up and running. GD

I believe the units are quite easy to spot, at least this is my opinion. It might have something to do with playing with a 'zoomed out map' so the units get too small. Best way to recognize them otherwise is to move the cursor over the hex (to make it show up at once, decrease the delay in the preference screen). Same for terrain/heights etc if they are not obvious from the map. Hope it helps.

You live and learn. Also putting the cursor over the vehicle and right clicking reveals details.

Holding the cursor over a hex will cause a black dialog box to showup. This box will give details about the hex. NB: I think the default delay (time cursor must remain over hex) is at least 2 seconds - 200 time units) To shorten waiting time - go to preferences and adjust the time delay of ...live action(??) to something else - say 30-50.

Hmmmmm 1941 - BT-7s are CHEAP, and unit size is LARGE. So you are likely to face a number of them. NB: Regardless of the points option you selected the AI will only base its points on the number you ACTUALLY USE. E.g., available points = 10,000 if you only use 1,000 then AI will only use 1,000.

May I recommend that you read the tutorial section of the manual. In fact, print it out and then play the tutorial scenario (the first one). That will get you going in the basics of the game. Keep the manual handy. It is well done and with it being in pdf form, you can click on edit>Find and look up almost all references to anything. We hope to have some new tactics articles soon from our own Larry Holt, another forum member and retired US Army for even more help. Enjoy!
