1942 March 10 The Empire captured: Palembang Funafuti The Allies captured: There were Imperial amphibious operations at: Langsa Langsa Funafuti There were Allied amphibious operations at: KB is off the coast of Burma, both covering the invasion of Ramree Island and participating in a joint LBA-carrier effort to smash the Allies heretofore significant resistance in the air. Rangoon was bombed by Vals, but only after many sweeps from both land and sea battered defending fighters. Ironically the land based Oscars seemed to be the winners on the day. See the air losses below. Bandoeng and Wenchow both held out, but Palembang fell. quote:
