For me it's probably Civilization III (first released 2001) which I still play regularly as if it were released yesterday. I have on occasion dipped into JTCS (based on 1998 releases) and even played the old Star Craft 1 for a couple games a few months back (also 1998).

But for me Civ III is the most durable game in my collection. Hard to believe its over 10 years old.

Currently Gunship (1986), Wasteland (1988) and Laser Squad (1988 - but only the C64 version). I also have Halls of Montezuma: A Battle History of the U.S. Marine Corps (1987) and Ultima V and Project Stealth Fighter (1988), but I didn't have time to get into them. I have bought full boxed versions of them in last three years.

HardWar from 1998
Baldur's Gate also from 1998 but I am not sure if this counts because I only bought it from GOG a couple of weeks ago.

Best wishes,
Steve

Of course it counts. It's the same game, just tweaked to work on modern boxes...

Yes. And the best thing is that I have played Gunship for the first time in 1992 or 1993 - when the game was already 6-7 years old. I haven't played it much back then because it was just a cassette rip with one mission. I had seen a full sealed version on Ebay for an attractive price 3 years ago, so I have bought it. I play it from time to time. Though I usually play a C64 emulator version as the original PC version crashes when I reach the rank of 2nd LT.
It has some neat stuff like having to start engines separately and start rotor. IIRC it was very useful for autorotation and quickly decreasing altitude. It was one of the last helicopter sims that allowed to play in realistic mode without a good analog joystick.

Here is a gameplay video:

I had it for my C64 back in about 1987-88... Back in the day when games came 5.25in floppy disks, with a manual the size of a brick.

Just thinking about the C64 brings back many good memories. Unfortunately my C64 had a terminal accident about 10 years ago. I used to play USAAF and a couple of other games on it then.

In some ways I feel games where better then. Since they couldn't do it with graphic they had to deliver some other way. With captivating story or... Anyhow. Someone mentions 'Master of Magic' and I feel all nostalgic and thinking back on that game makes me think that although it was buggy it might be the best game ever made.

MULE for the Atari 800! I have it setup in my basement.
It's a great 4 player game, where all 4 players are active at the same time.

I've seen worse on my old Atari 2600. But to still be playing it after all this time? That's got to be a record.

I bought Ultima 6 two weeks ago from GOG. I love that game. Not sure what year it came out but it's gotta at least twenty years old.

A lot actually. The oldest must be Great Naval Battles: North Atlantic + expansions (1992). Then I still regularly play Complete Carriers at War, Task Force 1942, Panthers in the Shadows/Tigers on the Prowl II, Silent Hunter Gold, and John Tiller's Campaign Series (but the Matrix edition now - same with TOAW).

I don't know if they can be called "old" but he three original "Combat Mission" games (the first was published in 2000) never left my HD too. I was never interested in the new iterations.

They date from 1980 thru 1987 with the oldest being Zork(1).

War of the Lance, Master of Magic, Civilization II, Centurion Defender of Rome, Sword of Aragon and Battles of Napoleon are a few that I still play from the days of old. With DosBox or D-Fend Reloaded they make it possible and easy to do now. But, the very oldest I play from time to time from back around 1981 or 1982 is Sword of Fargoal origionally released on the VIC-20 a cassette tape game http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sword_of_Fargoal. Later came Temple of Apshai and Telengard.

I cant figure it out. RR Tycoon II and III do not work with my 64 bit version of win 7. The original does.

Just guessing, but maybe the original is a DOS game while 2 and 3 might run on 16-bit Windows code or use a 16-bit Windows installer (which 64-bit OSs can't run.)

Had similar issues trying to run many of my Windows 3.X games on a 64-bit system. Only solution that seemed to work for me was to run/install Win 98 as a virtual machine and install the games there.

A few months ago I played a game of Computer Ambush (1981). Can't honestly say I enjoyed it though. The oldest I play regularly is Flight Commander II (1994).
