My 72 P-40Bs that were scheduled to arrive at Karachi in JUL '42 showed up as P-36s. What gives? I realize I only had 5 P-40Bs in the pool but my understanding is that these were reinforcements. Perhaps I withdrew a unit earlier and forgot? Also, I withdrew two squadrons of the AVG in China and they showed up as P-36s. I am missing something.

On that note, could someone explain the difference between replacement vs. production rates? I think I understand replacements. Not sure I understand what the production figure represents.

Thanks!

Short answer is that (to shamelessly quote myself from another thread):
quote:

Though allied reinforcement groups do not draw planes from the pool there is still a chance that if the pool is depleted incoming group will be auto-downgraded to the lesser aircraft type.

If you are intersted in more detailed description of the mechanics take a look at the last post in the other Reinforcements Question thread.
In your game apparently P-36 upgrades to P-40B (like in stock) and in your pools there was not enough of P-40B and P-40E (or whatever is the plane P-40B is designed to upgrade in your game) and you DID have in pool enough of P-36 to trigger group auto-downgrade.

Replacement rate can be considered the total production of all aircraft factories located OFF MAP - or more correctly that part of total off map production which was alloted to Pacific Theatre. So accordingly production rate is sum of production of all ON MAP factories. Even allies have a number of on-map aircraft factories (in most Full Campaign scenarios at least) and for Japan usually all aircraft production come from on-map factories.
