Anyone experiencing these? They seem to happen at any time, while right clicking (on anything), while left clicking, while the AI is resolving battles, etc. I use to see one once in a great while on version 1.4; maybe once every 6 to 24 hours of game play, but now it can be quite frequent. The range of frequency is from once per every 6 turns up to 3 times per turn. (Yep, reboot, load the file, play the tun over again, crash before completing the orders pahes, reboot, etc... 3 times in one Orders Phase.) It happens. I save a lot as you might imagine. Basically, I save everytime I get a few things settled during the Orders Phase (but before I am done with orders), at the end of the computer AI routine (i.e right after the weather report), and just before ending the Orders Phase. This slows things down a bit but is prefereable to reentering all my orders after each CTD. I had been experiencing Lock-Ups during carrier battles under 1.4. These are thankfully gone now. They were a much worse problem as once they'd occur, they would always repeat so the game was basically unplayable, unless I was willing to play UV while avoiding carrier bettles... not a fun way to play UV. These new CTDs are annoying, but the game can proceed after rebooting. I am not experiencing the new lock-ups some people report under 2.0 (See Toro's Lock-ups thread). Despite all this, UV is such a great concept and so well designed that, now that the carrier loack-ups are gone, and despite the new CTDs, the game has regained its status of most played of my not insubstantial wargaming library.... But then again, I used to put up with the extremely annoying behavior of the GNB series. My system is as follows K62 550-3d Processor W98 SR1 Creative Labs Ensoniq PCI Sound Card Apollo TnT 2 Vanta 32 Meg Video Card (Nvidia) 192 MEG RAM Been updated from the MotherBoard to Direct X and everything in between. Wonder what ver 2.01 will bring??? If it's a return to the carrier lock-ups, then I'll prefer 2.0 with its CTDs.
