Hi all,

I been eyeing up Steel Panthers WaW for a while and now I've got ADSL i figure i'm about ready to go for the download :D

Just wondered is it possible to get a seperate copy of any game manual someplace to have a look through, as its gonna take me sometime to download even on ADSL

Anyway, look forward to playing, and maybe having a PBEM game against some of you soon :)

Unfortunately I don't know of any place that has the game manual except for within the game itself.

It's over 4mb's in size and most email providers don't allow files that large.

LOL

Be careful you don't get hooked on this game! It can be addictive and takes a good long while to learn. But it is worth the effort.

Welcome

Welcome to the game, moz! :)

True, there's a staggering amount of things to learn about this game. Believe me, even the oldest trolls here find out new quirks each day.

Look forward to see you in the PBEM section.

I agree with that! I'm just glad I got in at the beginning so that I didn't have to learn everything all at once. It is definitely the best turn-based War game going!

Playing the AI in a campaign starting in 1939 is the best way to learn. You will learn all the units as they become available and the inferior weapons of the time force you to learn tactics rather than just blasting away with the big Panthers and Tigers. Slugging it out against the AI sometimes works but against a human opponent you will be beaten easily and you won't have fun.

hey thanks guys :)

i guess i'll heed the advice and start a campaign - sounds like wise words :D

i see there is only about 8% left to go on the download so best go make the missus a cuppa tea to sweeten her up before disappearing for the rest of the year ;)

MOZ: Welcome aboard, but beware if you get hooked on this game, you'll need to brew more than a "cup-o-tea" and no two or three cups won't work either.:D ;)

From another recruit soon ready for PBEM. (I hope they will spare me a bit:D)

Beware, I found out that the better you get with this game the more addicted you get.

The addiction level is directly proportional to the amount you learn and since there are very good tutorial and much info here.

Suggestion, try the cave busting tutorial, the text is missing from the book but it's been posted here just make a search with cave busting, you'll learn how to move and other really usefull things.

Have fun

well after playing the artillery tutorial, i figured i'd leap into a campaign - woah...this is very cool :-)

...though i should be cleaning house cos if the missus gets back from Tesco's and finds the place a mess my life will be forfeit ;-)

quick question - on WW2 campaign i'm finding the points given out to be to much (ie my force is a bit big for me to handle with all the learning i'm doing as i go) - is it possible to reduce points to say enough for 4 tanks, some scouts, three infantry platoons and a little arty?

whats the best points value anyone out there found was good for learning on and does reducing points pose any problems with battles?
