Just thinking about the colorful jargon that is routinely used here.

For eg.

"Allied Death Star"

"Mersing gambit"

"Fortress Palembang"

"Brave Sir Robin Defence"

"Little Yellow Bastards" Digger wwii slang

"Johnny Jap" British wwii slang (I think)

Some are adaptations of pop culture or historical references, of course, but who made them up?

A few other "classics" from the game:

1.  KB (it was many months into playing UV before I knew what the heck these initials stood for, then another several before I knew what Kido Butai meant).
2.  Nuclear Artillery:  effect of artillery on the Chinese when AE was first released.
3.  Nuclear Subs:  effect of Japanese subs on Allied ships - especially escorts - when AE was first releasted.
4.  Scoodra (island misnamed by GreyJoy)
5.  %%&$#!#$#!!!! (common observation by Miller while reviewing replays when I'm his opponent)
6.  "Holy Cats!" (patented John III saying)
7.  "Your play is not optimum." (surely everybody will recognize a dash of Nemo)
8.  Fortress Tokyo (plan implemented by Miller in mid 1942 when playing as Japan against a certain foe).
9.  Remember crsutton's recent sig about the Chilean prostitute?  Now THAT was a classic!
10.  "This game is borked!"  Knavey.

Yes.."KB" is everywhere, but adapted directly from the historical with essentially the correct meaning.

I miss the "leader bug"..especially that picture from the WITP opening screen with the junior officer pointing out the bug on the plotting table.

So we have one attribution for a famous WITP expression (but it is a whiney complaint. ), a malaprop, a swear word subsitute and..that is about it.

Thanks CR for the patent on "Holy Cats!" This phrase is only to be used in the most extreme of extreme surprises. Don't want it to lose its impact after all...

How about the little fellas to the left of the entry? I always love how people convey their thoughts with a simple:

or (my favorite)

Yes..excellent point. There have never been truer truisms than "AFB" and "JFB". I believe both are derived from internet speak in some fashion but still have no idea who first came up with it.

Cribtop boat comes immediatly to my mind. Its adding an additional empty transport into a TF for picking up survivors if a troop transporter is sunk.

Pretty much what I did to down a few zeros over Moresby, that and Ki-43s.

If you send 200, you pretty much get 4-5 damaged 1 destroyed B-17 in exchange for 4-5 fighters shot down.

I've seen it used to refer to any late-war Allied concentration. For example the late-war USN Fast Carrier Force (which often operated as a 'Allied Death Star' historically). Or throwing all six USMC INF Divisions at something.
