If you don't mind, please e-mail the actual file to me at ericbabe@west-civ.com and I'll take a look.

I don't think it should cause a crash, but you should probably turn off the layer with the hexes and guide-lines before saving the input map, so that the input map just has a white background and not a background with the hexes and guidelines.

Hi Eric,

After messing around with it and changing things. I found that by keeping the roads inside the hexes and cleaning up the map some, it worked. If you still want me to e-mail I will but its really not necessary.

Like you said leaving the hexes and guidelines on there causes problems too, so I will figure out how to work with layers..

Thanks for your help..

Glad you got it working. I was wondering whether the roads at the edges of the map might have been the problem. I'll look at the code for this.

Which program are you using to paint the input maps? I use Photoshop, but know some people who have edited maps in GIMP (which is free) without any problems. It works pretty well to put the hex-template on the bottom layer, add other map elements on layers above that, then insert a white layer between the hex template and the other map elements to turn the background pure white when you are exporting to JPG. Sometimes we also create a hex layer on top and display that layer with color burn to show the hexes on top of everything as well as below everything -- just turn that layer visibility off when exporting to JPG.

Hi Eric,

Im using Gimp, it works fine for making the images. I have learned how to use layers following this tutorial using Gimp.

http://www.tankedup-imaging.com/gimp/layers.html

Hopefully it can help other people out..

When inside of the editor I noticed there is red boxes on the hexagons, why is that?

Thanks for the help.

The red box indicates that you've cleared the terrain in a hex. The editor doesn't refresh all the terrain marks right away (it would make the editor agonizingly slow) so we use the red box to show where terrain has been cleared.
