Congrats on your pickup Dixie---you've been moving right up the ranks.

Stick it to wog (airlines).

Our op against Really Decent is continuing.

He has dropped several nothches in the ranks. We have reduced his daily pax count by nearly 70,000 passengers a day and his steady climb in valuation has slowed down (almost to a crawl).
I have jumped and/or am squeezing him on at least 59 routes and 2ndACR is smacking him hard as well.

I was able to get started against Reed in O1 yesterday evening but have not had as much time to devote to it once we launched against Really Decent in R2.

Thanks mate. I managed to make $500,000,000 overnight with 30 jets sat on the ground doing nothing and I've gone from trailing the next guy in the rankings by $900,000,000 and closed it to $300,000,000.

I've only managed to hit a few of Decent's routes, PIT-BHX was one he had to himself. But not anymore He's down to 17% of the share on that route. I've got half a dozen VC-10s sat idle though, not great for competetive routes but I can throw them into the mix if needed. I've also got more 707s coming soon which will free up more of my CL-44 fleet for the operation.

EDIT: Wog has started fighting back a bit. I don't think that sending 21 flights a week on a route with 80 pax per day is going to help him much though.

Thanks for your efforts against Really Decent. Every bit counts.

Update on the operation:
The op kicked off on April 3, 1974 (game time).
At the time we launched, Really Decent was ranked 29th, and served 471,559 daily passengers.
As of Aug. 3, 1974, he is ranked 37th, and serving 394,028 daily passengers.

We have taken him down a few notches, however, I have no intention of letting up on him.

As of Oct 12, 1974, Really Decent is still dropping.

Now ranked 43.
His daily passenger count is 372,134 and his valuation has dropped to $4,864,180,690.

Thanks to all that have participated.
We are continuing our efforts against him.

Any chance you guys could apply the same strategy to Wog Airlines as we've given to Decent? The guy is sending in ridiculous numbers of flights and hugely undercutting fares on most routes. Three daily flights from a Tristar on a route with 100 or so demand is taking the **** a bit. He can't be taking much profit from these ops so taking out his long haul flights might pay off.

Sure, we can pitch in against Wog.

Can you perhaps provide some information regarding him?
What routes does he have into the US?
What routes do you want us to hit?

Once we have that information, we can look at our available aircraft, determine what we can do, route the planes, and then let you know what we have done.

Does that work for you?

For operational security purposes, shoot us both a note, either here or thru the AE note function.
No sense in posting he specifics here in the open.

For those players in R2, the Vickers Vanguard goes out of production at the end of Dec. 1974 (less than 2 weeks gamtime----basically today).

The plane has a decent pax count (139), nice range (1402 miles), decent fuel flow (9604), and can take off from shorter runways (6000 ft).

They are pretty good on short to medium range competitive routes where you are being squeezed (or attempting to do the same).

If you intend to put an order in for this model, you need to do it soon.

I for one will be submitting a large order.

R2 PLANES USED SALE SALE SALE
-----
Sale over now
-------
Went for long haul planes on leases:
21 CL-44
7 DC-10-30
22 747-200b

I will now delay other CL-44 entering service. Not too sure if I want this many long haul planes, but couldn't stop myself. About 70 737-200 were also on offer, plus another 20 747-100 and -200, plus about 20 DC10. Not sure who it was who failed, but someone major quit.

Bear with me on this, I'm working on a set of routes, who's competing on them and what he's flying. Anyone who wants it can have the list when it's done.

No problem, we will try and knock him down a notch or 2.

Attention all R2 members, we have 2 new alliance members.......Messerschmidt Air (US based) and Bin (something or other) (china based).

They are trial runs and if you have route conflicts with them, contact as you trip over them and let's see if they work out.

Update on the op against Really Decent:

Noticed three planes (two One Eleven-500s and a Vickers Vanguard) in the used plane bin that were seized from Reall Decent on March 5, 1975.

His spiral downward is now official.

He is currently ranked 62.

Any alliance members in R2 should keep their eyes peeled on the repo bin.

He has 739 planes in his fleet.

He has some "really decent" models:
80 BAC One Eleven-500s
37 737-200ADVs
34 747-200s
20 DC10-30s
18 Trident 2Es
10 L-1011-1s
59 Vickers Vanguards

These should start dropping into the repo bin on a steady basis.

I picked up a few of his routes, but work meant I couldn't get in early. Not that it seems to have mattered as there is a bit of a bunfight happening on the routes I grabbed.

I'm grabbing whatever I can, although at the moment I'm actually picking up aircraft quicker than I can send them out They'll come in handy for the upcoming war though.

Looks like Wog Airlines has got himself kicked out of his alliance! I'm now smashing aircraft into as many of his Euro routes as I possibly can, the guy has assigned so many aircraft and flights to each route he's had to cut his prices down to silly levels just to keep his planes full, so keeping mine at a normal 100% with no connections should sap money from him quickly. I'm even taking a few losses on some routes in order to drag his profits down quickly. He's also built several terminals and leased a load of new planes lately, so with any luck his money will be low(ish).

As things stand:
78th Position, Value $2,748,531,864 and 405 aircraft (mostly jets).

Really Decent update.

Rank now 72.......on the 16th Apr, he lost 36 planes to the repo man........he had 700 planes just a few game days prior. He is on the death slide and there is no stopping it. Not easily anyway.

Our 2 new members are working out really well, they are both willing to go anywhere we need them to focus and ask good questions. Messer has even started squeezing RD routes when informed of our war. He has not even cried about being clobbered in the great DDay invasion of RD routes.

Seinberger is being bullied by a 73 plane airline and is acting like a big meany to the poor guy. LOL

Seinberger also makes fun of my airline that runs around squeezing 2000 pax routes to death with Trident 3B's........of course it is no laughing matter when said squeezed route coughs up a mil a day in profits while even running 400 seats above Y pax demand and maintaining 100% loads even though my ticket prices are 200 bucks above the lowest guy. LOL

R2:
Really Decimated Air is down to 219 planes.

In Australia, MEUS compete with:

Ansett - had 3 Boeing 727 in service, a long period of inactivity and a huge pile of cash. Then Ansett leased 38 big jets of which 25 have been delivered and none of which are flying. Ansett could be a real competitor if it's owner returns in the next 12 hours or so, otherwise it's debt will get out of control.

Bolt - 168 planes. Valuation reached 3.5bn but has now slipped back to 3.1bn. MEUS are competing hard and trying to find where the 75,000 unfortunate passangers are who could be offered better service at a lower price.

Elsewhere:
In R4 MEUS (Japan) have more planes than time allows to get flying.
Other worlds are quiet.

R2:

Really Decent is down to 147 planes now.

Wog Airlines is down to 105th position and has lost $1,226,380,312 in 6 months of game time. Probably through expanding his fleet by 80 aircraft.

Yes, I noticed that order for 100 747 SPs.

IMHO, that model is not worth it. Back in O2, I did a random search around the globe to determine how many additional worthwhile targets that could be reached in the range exceeding the 747-200Bs & Cs. Regardless of the origination point, I could generally not come up with more than 6-12 targets that could have otherwise not been reached by the Bs & Cs.

This means that you would really need no more than a dozen or so of the SPs. In head to head competition between the B & C models, and the SPs, the SP generally lost.

Therefore, Lynx's order for 100 of the SPs is foolish. This move will likely lead to his eventual demise.

Lynx has been a minor pest. IMHO, he has done himself in.

My latest project is Northern Bird (NB).

During my roaming around for empty routes, I discovered quite a few of them out of and airport in California. I established several dozen routes where previously no one had flown.

NB apparently didn't appreciate this as this was his base for sending out flights. He proceeded to spam every route that I had established out of that airport. I had also discovered a number of empty routes nearby at another airport and established routes there as well. He followed along behind and spammed me there as well. I sent him a warning note and pointed out that Really Decimated (I like that---can I borrow it Mobeer?)was in a free fall as a result of the actions we took against him for doing the same thing. He sent no reply note but the next day I had an entire page of routes in red, nearly all of them ones he and I was on. Message received.

We have gone back and forth, he drops prices, I match or drop and he repeats the process. Wash, rinse, repeat.

His entire fleet consists of the 737-200Adv. I am going now through and "bulletproofing" those routes he has spammed by subbing in prop planes for the DC-9-40s and One Eleven-500s I had been flying. Once I finish the plane swap, I drop the fare price significantly. He has followed behind and dropped still, but I think he is running out of room as some of the most recent price drops have been by odd amounts: $4, $9, $11. I think he is close to the break even point on many of these routes. Me flying fuel efficient props, I can follow behind and drop prices against by $30 or more. I have been going through and shrinking him down to as little as 4 passengers on routes where he has 400 seats.

Really Decimated is now at 289 of 293 airlines.

The big question now is:
"Will we hear a 'thud' when he hits the bottom?"

Can't be long now, the airline value is down in the negatives.

Hopefully Wog Airlines will follow soon, his value has dropped by $-2444307248 since March. It's meant sending a lot of flights out and probably causing problems for several 'innocent' airlines. But that's the price they pay for leaving it to me

And Wog Airlines are approaching the end. He's lost 100 aircraft overnight and now has a negative value. There might be a few routes opening up for airlines based in the US. The main bonus is that I can get my prices back to a sensible level.

It's been a good day in R2. With Wog Airlines collapsing rapidly I'm able to scale back a lot of my operations and reset my prices to a decent level. From operating 40 or more flights at $50 a ticket on some routes I'm able to cut back to 14 flights or less at up to $300 per ticket. The best results have seen daily profits increase by 20 times the previous income.

As a side effect I can start getting rid of the One-Eleven fleet.
