no idea why Cuttlefish landed this rgt here without any support... would have been better off to land an IJNAF base force or so... got bombers at PM but they just don't fly, for no obvious reason... it's just the typical behaviour of the game...

really short and unspectacular turns at the moment but that's nothing bad if you are playing the Allied at this stage of the war... looks like Cuttlefish increases the number of bombers against Singapore though as these Lilies join the fight from their bases on Northern Borneo... guess having them based on one of the Malayan airfields would be a better choice due to range and airfield size...

due to not having any real flak at Clark Field the bombers achieve quite a good hit rate all the time and keep the lvl 8 airfield damaged lately... they fly day after day of course, seems just to be impossible to reliable launch anti shipping strikes as none of my bombers even tried to attack shipping around PM for days which is just ridicoulos... with that game the real life massacre in the Bismarck Sea would have never happened... and yes, I do know how my airfields have to look like when I want to launch bomber strikes...

we even had a task force identified as cruisers and destroyers in range today (probably bombarding PM tomorrow) but my bombers just kept sitting on the airfield... mucho realistic...

that could be the TF that was spotted yesterday but there are more around with heavier units as Cuttlefish decided not to bombard PM today while sending in destroyers in to clear the area of my PT boats which works very well in daylight... guess what the SBD squadron at PM set to nav attack 4 hexes did the whole day in best weather conditions? Correct, nothing...

compare that behaviour to what would have happened in real life in such an instance...

the only way to sink subs is sub vs sub or mines... unfortunately it's one of ours that bites the dust as S-27 immediately sinks with all hands down after the torp hit...

have ordered sweeps and anti shipping strikes today as there is one more convoy in the area unloading at Lae in range of my dive bombers and my fighters had to make sure that no enemy Cap could get towards my precious USMC dive bombers... as there probably still only is that IJA rgt without any support at Lae there's also no fighter at the base...

and the third one... I really love the strike routines, makes no sense, just random happenings and always the same stupidity of fighter squadrons always losing a fragment on the way to the target... not realistic, not logic... granted, in total I preferre the strikes from AE over WITP but cmon, the all in one strikes have been replaced by nothing realistic either...

the Vindicator squadron also attacked in the afternoon (fun, they haven't attacked shipping for days, this turn they even attack twice) while the Dauntless squadron neither was flying in the morning nor int he afternoon... they did nothing... I'm fine with only one squadron attacking such a three ship convoy, seems perfectly reasonable to me but it seems to just happen by accident when it looks good, there is no reason why those SBD never attacked shipping so far when there was lots of high value shipping in the area and everything being just perfectly fine for the bombers...

I told Cuttlefish that this attack was quite confident and was told that he expected better odds but he mainly attacked to wear down my supply stocks... unfortunately the enemy again has been able to knock down a fort (we are building again) but the odds look horrible for him... he's well aware that he won't have a slight chance to take Clark Field as long as my units are well supplied...

KB was spotted West of Palmyra... looks like the IJN is planning another little raid but all attempts failed so far and also this time there is nothing of value anywhere near danger of being attacked... the convoys on the screenshot are nothing but a couple of three or four ship xAKL convoys hauling supply around... as long as KB gets spotted early all the time it won't turn into a problem for us as I don't expect to lose anything to KB if it doesn't surprisingly pop up next to one of my convoys...

KB still spotted around Palmyra and Cuttlefish stated it was disapointing that noone is around to play with KB... another TF spotted around Johnston what seems to be an enemy SAG... this could mean Cuttlefish plans to land on Johnston but we haven't spotted an invasion convoy yet... we'll see...

our Singapore garisson still holds and this time heavily hits the attackers... Cuttlefish must have had a badly disabled unit in the attack as he took exceptional lot destroyed combat squads compared to disabled squads... we'll try to build up the forts to 1 again but constant air attacks makes this pretty much impossible... it has been a good decision to finally switch more bombers to airfield attacks, something the enemy hasn't done for months in the beginning... IMO every Japanese player should seek to keep the airfields at Singapore and Clark Field damaged right from day one to prevent forts being built up...

heavy air attacks on Singapore are followed by a shock attack and the base finally surrenders... pretty much one month later than real life so that's quite comfortable... reason for it was the really slow IJ march down the peninsula with us doing nothing to further slow down the advancing troops... good idea to shock attack as a deliberate attack might have meant at least one or two more attacks fo see the base surrendering so it was the perfect moment for a shock attack...

Afternoon Air attack on TF, near Akyab at 54,45

Weather in hex: Light rain

Raid detected at 101 NM, estimated altitude 12,000 feet.
Estimated time to target is 40 minutes

Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 45
G3M2 Nell x 18

Allied aircraft
H81-A3 x 17
Hurricane IIa Trop x 10
Hurricane IIb Trop x 10

Japanese aircraft losses
A6M2 Zero: 2 destroyed
G3M2 Nell: 1 destroyed, 2 damaged

Allied aircraft losses
H81-A3: 1 destroyed

Allied Ships
xAKL Katong
xAKL Shan Tung, Torpedo hits 1, and is sunk
xAKL Tatung
xAKL Marudu
PG Lawrence, Torpedo hits 1, heavy damage

moved a convoy of small freighters and some escorts to deliver supply to Akyab and to act as bait to draw a strike from Rangoon that should have been chewed up by 100+ fighters set to 90/10 Cap/rest... two things worked, a) bringing supply and b) drawing a strike but there was no chewing up of the incoming strike at all because neither did we have anywhere close the expected number of fighters in the air nor did they really harm the escorts nor the bombers... the only thing that seemed to have saved the convoy from a disaster was the low hit rate of the torp bombers due to light rain...

absolutely depressing A2A result with a max of 12 enemy aircraft shot down... granted, we suffered nearly no loss but I really wanted to hit the Zeroes at least and with a pre warning time of 40min to engage an incoming strike you could expect 100+ fighters to do more damage than shooting down 12 enemy aircraft... there was also no post air attack combat...
