I am currently testing in my campaign a scenario where the player has to set up an ambush. His mission is to hit the ennemy forces hard and then retreat via exit hexes with most of his force intact. To simulate the reaction of the opposing side, I am thinking of using waypoints to direct the first flow of ennemy units, without programming a final objective (only using waypoints, up to number 5 or 6). I am hoping that after reaching the last programmed waypoint, the PO would then go for victory objectives which would appear on turn 10. The question is, will the computer immobilise the unit on the last (number 5 or 6) programmed waypoint, or will the unit become "independant" and go for the VO? Thanks for some advice if anyone knows the answer. Best Regards, Christophe

I don't think the AI will immobilize anything, and they may go for the waypoints but I'm not sure. The best and easiest way to know would be to set up a small test scenario and try it - give the AI troops waypoints that will last for 2-3 turns with V-hexes the same distance away as they will be in your scenario. Then observe and see what they do - I think they will "mill around" or go for the V-hexes - but I don't know which. I'll guess they go for the V-hex, how's that? Don Don

They'll go for the objectives. They should generally follow the waypoints set and after reaching the last waypoint take the most direct route to the objectives, or at least that is what they should do . You can try setting up a reaction VH near the end of the waypoints to see if that keeps them interested. I would set it to enemy control, just to get their attention.
