Wow they don't make this easy! First I had to search the forum for clues where to find the patches since they aren't up at Graviteam. Then I carefully read & re-read the patching process since it's been a few months. Ran the game update and then installed the district update with the installer. Then tried to start but got an error stating that a DirectX file was missing. Searched the Graviteam forum & found that someone else had the same problem & Andrey directed them to the Windows website for that update. DL'd that & spent the next 20 minutes figuring out what file to extract & where to put it. Then I started up APOS again and, hey it's starting, gee it looks like they updated the splashscreen and ...crash! "Critical error 002: An error has occurred while initializing objects [ i_opgame:opgame -> i_lines2d:lines2d ]"

Any chance that Matrix will offer this game WITH the patches already installed?

Well not much is working... I have alot of patience but this is getting downright painful. I reinstall vanilla..works fine. Tried running the 580 exe, game wont start, i still tried to install the patch even though the game wouldnt start, using the updater as suggested above. No go. Now it says game wont run because there's files missing...looks like directx 9 files to me...so reinstall vanilla the directx and runtime stuff installs fine...runs fine...thinking maybe i need to install the first engine [577] first. Install the 577 game runs fine..ok so far..run the 580 exe and pretty much rinse and repeat as above ..no joy. What the....K. Where the hell should i go from vanilla, anyone...hell i'll try anything. Excuse me while i go break something

Well I think I'm in the same boat as some of the others. I have the Matrix version, tried to install the 580 from Graviteam. It said it was a successful install yet when I fire up the game it still shows 5.77.

So much for the deep end.

hell at least your game started after the 580, mine wont even start.
I got the updater to say 3.08 but i get the errors below.I;m on my 4th reinstall and back at vanilla.

mind you these errors only happen after trying the 580 engine update.
am i supposed to apply the 577 engine update, before the 580 from vanilla..i tried it anyway and every time i get to the 580 i have problems.

Budd, from the graviteam site

'You need the latest DirectX Redist (June 2012)
Free from MS download site.
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109 '

Looks like it fixed the problem for people who were getting the same error.

Matrix version should look like this when updated.
When 580 engine is done updating the game updater should automatically pop up, then apply the unpacked patch.

Well flashburn replied over at graviteam.....and it works...well it started up. Here's what i did, from base game, i installed the directx9 stuff from the link that flashburn provided. Just download and extract to a folder and then run the installer. I then ran the 580 engine update, after that ran the updater popped up and i went right to installing the may patch [i believe this is what bigj was talking about]then i just hit save and play and it started. I havent played yet but this is an improvement.

Hi guys,

To be frank, our goal was to save you from this process. We have the update from Graviteam and we're working to make it easier to apply. This will result in a delay before we release it, but it should work just like our other updates.

Regards,

- Erik

thx Erik

Feels like my penance for not buying here, it has been painful at times. I have the add-ons already but i know everyone was wondering about Matrix carry these as was mentioned awhile ago and also will you guys be carrying the new game or any new add-ons within a reasonable time after they are released.

Sounds good Erik. If I cant get this process to work I'll wait for the Matrix update.

Does anyone have a link to the current district update?

This process ranks somewhere in between a root canal and a 7 hour car trip with the in-laws.

Grrrr. I did a fresh install as suggested by Ice then ran the 580 eng update and fired up the game. Still says version 5.77 so I didn't go any further.

O.K. Now this ranks somewhere between a 7 hour car trip with the in-laws and your wife and an ex girlfriend becoming good friends.

did you install the may patch right after the 580. The update window popped up for me right after running the 580 and i went right into installing the may patch, then save and play. I was told by flashburn over at graviteam the patch is the content.
here's the link.

I got it installed. Silly me. It was installing to my Achtung Panzer folder in my Program Files folder when the game is actually in C/Matrix Games/Achtung Panzer by default.

Thanks for the help everyone.

I also got it to install just by accident seconds before I was going to pull the plug and uninstall everything. I found a GAMES folder that I had created sometime in the past on the C drive, not under programs. I found a game file in there and I aimed the update 580 install at it and everything worked....????????go figure
