Maj. Walseth, 1st Marine Raider Bn.: <speaking on radio> Apache base this is Apache One. We are on Kai Echo India-landen not Kai Echo-landen. Am I directed to establish base or prepare for evac, over?

Mandrake, I gotta call B***s*** on this one: Every USMC field-grade officer I ever dealt with in the 3rd MarDiv with an aggression rating over 80 (in other words, all of 'em), would have radioed the following message: "Apache base this is Apache One. We are killing 'em all. Let God sort 'em out..."

Exactly what I was thinking, amigo.

Maj. Walseth, 1st Marine Raider Bn.: <throws down radio hand set> GODDAMN ****** ******* WORTHLESS PIECE OF **** RADIO! GODDAMN ****** ******* WORTHLESS PIECE OF **** MAP! <turns to give orders> We are taking this town and I don't give a rat's *** about any useless EIR, either. I want that chief with the stupid hat in custody. Don't kill him, just keep out of my way. The construction boys from the Navy and 21st Marine should be here in 6 hrs. Let's pretend we know what we are doing!

The narrative follows the game results.

Here is the deal, I think. when a non-garrisoned LYB-controlled dot hex changes to Allied control via an expressly ordered attack, there is no report in the combat report. Despite this, Kai-e(i)landed is glowing that satisfying green color now.

Planning starts for Op Yorker, the invasion of Bengay. 9th Aus Div, 56th UK Brig and supporting elements are the first to begin planning. Once JJs troops in the Drwin/Katherine region are sorted 18th UK and 6th and 7th Aus Divs will begin planning.

And may God have mercy on our souls.

"Bengay" is a place?

Greyjoyism lives!

I am pretty sure it is the Dutch thingy, again.

Didn't get much done this weekend as SG threw a birthday partay for her 80 yr old adoptive mom. As a consequence, the Chicago crowd flew in. That is the craziest group of human beings I have ever met. The 75+ (women) crowd made sex jokes that made me nearly aspirate my fajitas.

They told one story of the family getting in a fight with the Polish family up the street. It started with a teasing incident at school between 10 year olds, then escalated to the 15 year olds, then the mothers, then the grandparents. It sounded like the first day of Gettysburg. Gamble takes on the CSA infantry, then I Corps arrives, then Early...etc., etc.

A classic meeting engagement. Superior Polish cavalry force taunts Italian cavalry (male 12 year old vs female 10 year old). This prompts prompts a recon in force by Italians (15 year old, 120 lb wrestler) to Polish encampment leading to an ambush by Polish skirmishers (hard slap in face by big-boned Polish mother who objected to having the Polish cavalry troop called "little ******"). This lead to a major engagement in the street between Italian and Polish infantry with the eventual arrival of reserves.

Say, are those special twin 2mm or 4mm Oerlikon AA mounts up forward?

Judging from the haircut on Lt. Ashigara I would say this is US Army, peacetime. Lt. Ashigara might even be breaking the Geneva Convention as he just might be in civies.

Looks like Pacific Northwest or Northern New York or maybe even Japan.

The two vessels in front are Mk XII 22 in innertubes (with field modifications) manufactured in Dayton, OH ca. 1950.

I think that is an LSM in back (Landing Ship Mattress) with twin Mk XII 22's

Saumlaki: A Marine Regt landing there as the garrison is quite thin and the airfield is quite valuable.

Helens go after the airfield. JJ gets an "A" for eran, if not for pranning.

Not sure what happened to all the Tojos swarming all over the prace. I think the ground losses at Darwin hurt them pretty badly.

Morning Air attack on Saumlaki , at 78,117

Weather in hex: Severe storms

Raid detected at 77 NM, estimated altitude 8,000 feet.
Estimated time to target is 25 minutes

Japanese aircraft
Ki-49-Ia Helen x 14
Ki-49-IIa Helen x 23

Allied aircraft
P-40E Warhawk x 14
P-40K Warhawk x 18

Japanese aircraft losses
Ki-49-Ia Helen: 8 destroyed, 1 damaged
Ki-49-IIa Helen: 5 destroyed, 1 damaged

No Allied losses

Runway hits 1

Sorong: Nice raid by the B-17E's. A little too far for the 17F's. JJ had no CAP. No fighters there at all. Still can't shake the notion they aren't fighting back. Possible expranations:

1) They can't

2) They are pulling back to the Gothic Line

3) They are marshalling for a counterattack

4) Emperor's birthday partay

I just started a slow BB from Horn Is. to bombard either Sorong or Ambon prior to the landing at Boela. Looks like a para drop from Saumlaki will be possible as Saumalaki should now be level 2.

Morning Air attack on Sorong , at 82,107

Weather in hex: Light cloud

Raid detected at 39 NM, estimated altitude 12,000 feet.
Estimated time to target is 11 minutes

Japanese aircraft
no flights

Allied aircraft
B-17E Fortress x 15

No Japanese losses

Allied aircraft losses
B-17E Fortress: 1 damaged

Airbase hits 9
Airbase supply hits 2
Runway hits 30

Submarine warfare: I think JJ is hugging the Chinese coast to stay under aerial ASW patrols and in shallow water.

Sub attack near Shanghai at 93,57

Japanese Ships
xAK Yuzan Maru, Torpedo hits 2, on fire, heavy damage
PB Choyo Maru #2
xAK Somedono Maru
xAK Yamagiku Maru
PB Rokko Maru
PB Musashi Maru

Allied Ships
SS Guardfish, hits 3

Port Hedrand: Ashigara tried to raid the transports unloading at PH. Evidently she was deterred by the subs. Portland was waiting for her. Would have been an interesting fight.

ASW attack near Port Hedland at 58,127

Japanese Ships
DD Minazuki
CA Ashigara
DD Satsuki
DD Ushio
DD Shigure
DD Katsutade

Allied Ships
SS Searaven, hits 1

Admiral Lord Sprior;

I sent the AK's at PH back toward Exmouth. Wasn't sure if you saw ithe inbound SCTF.

Well, the Japanese player does have control over R&D now, so why not put it into time travel? How else can Japan get supplies of rubber for their shipbuilding program?

Yes...quite likely he was "bool sheeting" me..but even if I got stainless steel and did not have to match the cabinets, I would probably still need a carpenter to trim up the cabinets and a cabinet stainer guy and maybe even a floor guy and somebody to remove the rodent skeletons behind the fridge...and that is assuming they could get the damn thing around the center island.
