Hi all,

A question:

I'm joined to both the site and the MB but I can't download the UV V2.0 patch!! I can't do the true update since my IP logs me out every so often BEFORE completion. Therefore, I tried downloading from the downloads page and it says Authentication required. So I type in my username and password and it sayd "530 not logged in". For some reason it blocks me trying to download the patch!!

I've tried it over the past few days and I still get the same message!!

Any ideas anyone?

Regards,

Steven

We are looking into the servers to see if there is a problem.

Don't hold your breath waiting for Matrix to resolve this problem. I too had problems downloading and as can be seen from my earlier posts in the bug/problems section all I heard from Matrix on any of my questions was the same "We'll check the server" reply.

If you want to get to 2.0, send me a private response with your name and mailing address and I will forward a 2.0 upgrade disc via surface mail.

You can thank Mr. Simon Prior of Illinois for sending the disc to me-I am just passing on the favor.

Good luck with the upgrade.

Gary

Hi Everyone

Well Gary we did and do check the servers all the time. I know it seems like sometimes we are not moving fast enough but we are always trying. Remeber that every issue is not always a Matrix problem. This problem seems to be more a browser issue/ISP then our servers. The gamers that had problems that we have been able to help, all have been browser issue. These are errors we can not fix. To help we will be setting up some mirror sites as well in the near future.

Mr Heath

Thanks for responding to my posting. It is good to hear a Matrix response. I stand by what I said and if you check my posts in the problem section you will see that my last questions had nothing to do with your server. My questions were:

1. Are new UV games coming with 2.0 on the disc. I was not asking for a download-In fact out of frustration I was offering to buy a new game to get 2.0.
2. The size of the 2.0 upgrade was HUGE my second question was could we get it split in two.

Neither of these questions were answered to my satisfaction-that is why I am advising not to hold one's breath.

I repeat I was and am not asking for a download-I have given up on that idea. I originally asked for a 2.0 disc but was told you don't do that-OK, a response-that is why I responded with two additional questions. I am not upset that you don't burn upgrade CD's-I was upset I rec'd no followup response. And it frustrates me that I am being challenged based upon my perceptions of your company's response ratio.

You guys may think you do an excellent job in responding and that may be the case-at least that is your reality-but what you think is irrelevant in the long run. What counts-it is how your customers perceive your company-you see, we are the folks who pay the bills.

What may be needed is a way to actually get a upgrade disc into the hands of the poor unfortuneates who can't download the patches-There may in fact be a market to help guys like me who will pay to play. Who knows?

H3ll, I'm terrified to so much as look cross-eyed at my UV CDROM for fear of rendering it unusable...

I wouldn't mind being able to make a "for personal/backup use only" copy.

Answers:

2: Sorry that is not possble with the installer we use.

We are working on some other ways to provide the Patch to our customers.

Speedy, are you still having problems downloading? As one of the few other Poms frequenting this site, let me know your address and I'll burn it onto a CD and post it to you. It took me more than a weekend to finally get the patch downloaded on my 56k modem to I appreciate the frustration!

Hi guys,

I've still not managed to download V2.0 yet and V2.11 is out!! The same thing as mentioned above keeps happening no matter when I try. To be honest i'm quite fed up of trying. You guys do a great job with these games but its pretty frustrating not being able to download by true update (since connection logs off after a couple of hours whether I like it or not) OR manually due to above problem!! What am I to do?!? Does anyone on here know anywhere I can download the update by using DAP or Get Right?

Best regards,

Steven

If you keep having problems (and check some of the Matrix threads, I suspect you are using the wrong sign in information), let me know and I'll put up the patchs on my webpage for ONE DAY....I don't want thousands of people on there.

And what kind of sucky ISP do you have that you can't download a patch within a hour? :) (Of course, I have cable modem also, so no clue how long dial up takes.)

Thanks for the replies guys but this is real weird!! All of a sudden i've been able to download V2.0 and am at present getting V2.11!! Long story - basically can't download off net as you know. Howard Mitchell, being the star he was, copied V2.0 and sent it to me on cd. Then all of a sudden my cd drive totally packed up. Now literally all of a sudden it works again, just like that!! God knows what went on/is going on.

Putas are weird things.........

Thanks anyway guys :)

Speedy,

I have the same problem. For me its an inactivity logoff. It took 2.5 hours to download v2.0. I just put in a movie and come back to the computer every 20-30 minutes. As long as I do something as minor as changing forum threads I never get logged off.

There is probably some way to adjust the time period your IP gives you for inactivity before it logs you off. I'm just to lazy to figure it out.

Anyway, this may help you in the future.
