There appears to be a minefield at Palembang that I'll have to clear out before I can do any heavy operations there.

An Allied sub is loose near Cam Ranh Bay. I'm going to have to reroute a bunch of stuff around him. If I can find him again.

The Cuttlefish is being bothersome. I'll have to watch him too.

Perhaps I should concentrate on Clark Field instead of Manila. And the ground pounding can start big time now.

Time to take the Nells off airfield missions and put them on ground pounding instead.

The results of this raid on Singapore ground units tells me that it's too early to start ground pounding Singers. I need to concentrate on the airfield instead. At least for a while. Whittle down the Allied fighters a bit and THEN start ground pounding.

Jim is keeping his B-17's at Port Moresby busy. I've moved some Zero's into the area for CAP. Let's see if it makes any difference at all.

Good results from another carrier strike. I'm running low on sorties though.

I did a bombardment attack on Clark Field and lost more stuff than Jim did. I'm guessing I'll have to do a bunch of bombardment from the air instead for a while to avoid unneccessary losses.

I'm still outnumbered at Iloilo. Gotta ship in some more foot dudes. Either that or just keep bombarding for about 6 months.

There was good news from Kushing. Now that Kushing is out of the way, I guess Singkawang is next.

Balikpapan is not a pushover and Jim has reinforcements headed that way. I'm probably going to have to ship some more dudes into that AO. I don't have any arty nearby but could use some. Maybe some engineers would help out too.

It is now 29June2012 ( 06:12 Tucson time ) and Jim is on his way to his brother-in-law's domicile and thus out-of-pocket. I thought I'd take a minute to explain something to all you guys in Jim's AAR. Um......this is Jim's AAR and I respect that and you guys have probably noticed that I've been posting a lot of stuff in it and thus there's the appearance that I've "taken over" Jim's AAR. I'm not unaware of this and have on numerous occasions, via email, said so to Jimbo but he insists that my posting stuff in his AAR is a good thing and that I should keep it up. The explanation given is that he's playing as the Japs against TommyG and can use all the help he can get from me toward that game and that anything I can think of to signifiy in his AAR is documentation of the sort that would tend to be helpful in that reguard. In other words, I'm trying to help Jim with his TommyG game while documenting our game, both by posting hopefully useful stuff in his AAR.

Jim will be back in town on Sunday so there's going to be a short pause in this verbage stream but stay tuned and we'll be posting more stuff as we find things to post.

Here's me shipping an Arty unit to Iloilo which is a port level 2 base. Which brings up another good point. I'm wondering what difference it makes what level the port is if I don't own it at this approximate point in time. Presumably I'm offloading equipment "over the bow" and onto the beach and I looked into it and that Arty unit has some heavy duty arty pieces ( 15 cm T96 ) and that there's probably the requirement of a crane at some point in the offloading. So that while I can move the tubes to the hex I'm not sure I can offload them there. Anybody have any idea what's going to happen when the ship arrives in the hex?

Here we have a Jap minesweeping TF presumably sweeping the Allied minefield at Singkawang. This TF has been on patrol on this hex for the last 3 or 4 days and there's never been the announcement in the operations report of any of the ships encountering a minefield. So I'm wondering if I need to alter the patrol to a simple "remain on station" setting instead. Anybody have an idea how to sweep minefields?

There's no Allied minefield dot on the map any longer so I'm guessing I finally cleared the Allied minefield at Singkawang.

My boys detected a minefield at Makassar. Good thing I didn't run ramshackle into it with a non-minesweeper type.

Thanks to all the readers who contributed to the 3K hits we've had so far. My dad would thank you too but he's dead.

Oh, shoot, it's almost 23:00 on Monday.......I only have just less then an hour to get the rest of my stuff posted. No problem....I'll just stay up a little later than I usually do on Monday night. Watch the sun come up maybe. That's always inspiring when you're down. Watch the sun come up and the sky turn all those wonderful colors......all in slow motion.

Okay dokie now that he's attacked somebody I guess the prudent thing would be to move him off Malacca and somewhere maybe more useful.

He went into the harbour and found no minefield and survived. Good for him. He decided not to launch a torp at a target. Replace the captain of this boat? What do you guys think of his behaviour you guys?

The SERIOUS ground pounding has begun at Clark Field. I've got multiple squadrons tasked to Clark Field and I intend to keep this up until the Jap ground forces can start to make some headway. I'm guessing Jim will back everybody he can off onto Bataan and hold up until the end. I've tried to split his forces into several parts so I can digest them one at a time with the same Jap folks. Now I see there's some 58K Allied dudes at Manila. Whoa. This may take some time to come.
