Why is that, Sztartur? I think we must realize this game is far from finished, but look at what they've achieved already. Give it time, it will get better and better.

We are unable to get the Map Maker to work for Sztartur so far. I understand his demotivation, but I hope we will find a solution soon. You can see his thread in the tech support forum if you want to see what he has been through.

What you did was override the new xmls and installed old xmls that point to the old 3D models and graphics. We left the old stuff in just in case.

I'll explain. Currently there are two sets of infantry graphics: the old one that came with your purchased game and a new set that is part of the beta patch. This mod contains a bunch of changed xml files that point to the old graphics set. The beta update contains an updated version of those same xml files that point to the new graphics. If you install this mod after the beta patch, you overwrite the new xml files with the modified old ones and you will be stuck with the old graphics. What needs to be done to get 10 men squads with the new graphics is to manually apply the changes to get 10 member squads to all the new files.
EDIT: This appears to be 114 files to be changed, and the next time someone updates the graphics or unit stats you would have to start all over again. Why are these old graphic files not simply overwritten with the new ones instead of keeping them around but unused?

Exactly because of situations like this. If the old files were removed and you applied an old mod, the game would crash.

Actually, no. If the old graphics files were simply overwritten with the new ones, any mod that refers to them would continue working perfectly and have been automatically updated so to say. This mod certainly would have, and I can imagine no situation where updating a texture file with an improved version of the same would somehow crash the game. It would be a lot more convenient than someone now being forced to manually go through 114 files to adjust them to the new changes.

Overwriting wasn't possible in this case as spellir used a different file structure in order to give more variety. Then the xmls had to point to this new files structure. We could have delayed the game release until he finished this project but...
Considering the amount of hours that spellir put in to bring you this improvement, editing 114 files is a minor project. A lot of the xmls will be so similar that copy and paste will get a lot of them done quickly.

Hi Nemo84,
Even so, the files would have had to change as in many cases other lines in the XML files were changed to support different and additional infantry models. Even if the entire update had been "in place" the files would have had to be edited again.
With that said, we do not current plan on changing the infantry files again for this release. For future releases, we plan to build the full squad and team size into the official release files, after seeing the demand for it in this release.
Good to know that this will be part of a future official release. I'm currently being bored at home on sick leave so I had already started modifying these files myself. Including some extra changes to make the extra squadmembers fit in a bit better than a mere c/p of the exising models would offer. But the broken arm that is the cause of my unexpected free time means it was going way too slowly. I'll just abandon it for the time being then, seeing as at the current rate you guys would likely beat me to a release.
I certainly appreciate Spellir's work and effort (and the rest of the team as well) and in retrospect my previous post might have sounded a bit too... cranky

With every mod this game will get better and better. We sometimes tend to forget that. If I recall how CMBO and CMBB looked at the beginning...it almost made me cry.

Bump
Please use the JMass version that is for use with JSGME. That way if the beta update causes problems, you can uninstall the mod.

My humble request to Matrix: since there is a big demand for this Is it possible to include in the next patch? It is very tedious and unnecessary to always update this. Those with weaker machines can still turn limit infantry on.

I have replied to this post because I am rather new at the game and still debating if I want to get into doing mods. I am leaning heavily towards "yes" but it will have to wait until I can get a video card that is capable of handling the higher end graphics (64mb just don't get it these days). I just added more memory to my computer and will be adding the larger hard drive as soon as I replace my DVD RW drive. Then I can think about grphics cards. Would 512mb of video memory improve the game? So sztartur, don't be demotivated. You are a great modder. Chris.

Chris, short answer, yes. Long answer, there is more to video cards than just the memory. But let's not discuss that here.

Trying to use this mod but I keep getting a CTD with windows "application has stopped working" message. It always happens when the red 'tank tracks' bar on the load screen for a scenario gets to "Loading Units" *if* the scenario calls for infantry (not surprising i suppose).
I'm using JSGME and JMass's download (I tried downloading from sztartur's link as well but still having the same CTD). Can't figure out what is causing this. Clearly there is something in the mod that is not 'taking' when the "Loading Units" begins. I made sure I have the "limit units" option *not* selected.

Do you have the beta update installed?

Will this mod work with the latest patch, guys? And didn't have an adjustment in the latest patch through which some soldiers were wearing caps instead of helmets? Seems to have disappeared in this patch.

To answer your question, the original 10 men squad mod still works in the latest patch.
With that you mean the one at the start of this thread I take it? I'm asking this since my game crashed after installing this mod. After removing it again no problem. Might have been coincidence.
