More specifically, I am wondering if there will be a US Army version created that has the same exact set up as Close Combat III, but covers the US Army from the Invasion of Normandy to the end of the war when Germany surrenders? Those of us who love history LOVE Close Combat III, but are wanting one for the US Army as well. The ability to take your platoon from the beginning of the war to the end and have their stats/rank improve and have your same equipment throughout the war is the biggest thing we love about Close Combat III. Don't bother with the Strategy Map, just have the exact same structure as Close Combat III, but from the Allied perspective. Let us call in artillery and air strikes as well. Ultimately, sometime before it's over if you do really well, you can be a Major and command a company or regiment and depending on your requisition points you can constantly get new units and by the end of the war you can have your force be 18 of the best Sherman tanks if you want in the 1st Infantry Division, if that's what you want.

Don't know why Atomic Games didn't think about doing that. All of the US Army games were boring and not historical. A real commander doesn't get given a new set of units at every battle. Also, don't just focus on infantry. The armor is equally as important.

Sorry for the rant, but it is frustrating! I have yet to find a WWII real time strategy (not turn based) game that functions the way CCIII does, but from the Allied perspective.

Although it's not exactly what you are asking for, CCV did come close to what you are describing. You can use the campaign mode and IIRC carry over your forces.

There is a Western Front section along with many more mods for CC3. CC3 is the best version of the series and the mods for it are superb.

is there a step-by-step guide for how to install? I'm not too tech savvy when it comes to modding. Thanks.

A campaign following a single small unit through all the war or a single commanding officer is most appealing to me. Stuff like jumping through many command level, strategic minigame, etc. tends to put me off.

Would be nice if you could take them thru the war.

I wholeheartedly agree. I don't like the jumping around either.

There was a tech support section there somewhere. Since Im a strictly EastFront/Mediterranean player I could help if you decide to go that route.

thanks, I found what I was looking for. The install method for a mod is the same no matter what the mod is.
