I have started two games- regular grand campaign and the German grand campaign.
In both games after conquering Poland it says much wear and tear on the equipment, etc. The
German army needs 6 months to refit, etc. Since the Poland invasion lasted 3-4 turns I cannot
believe there was that much wear and tear especially it has affected ALL German units- even those
not even involved in the Poland invasion.

Is this a hardwired event or did I just get bad roll of the dice??

Actually this is hardwired, but you can easily modify the game to be variable.

Thanks for letting me know BUT how can I make this event variable?
I am not much on the computer or changing things in games.
Please be so kind as instructing me in detail how I can make it variable.

That is very historical. The Germans were shocked both in the move into Austria in 38 and Chechoslovakia later on, and in Poland, at the wear and tear on their armored forces.

To avoid this event, you would have to edit it out of the event file for Germany, for whatever scenario you are playing. Use a text editor.

When I posted my thread you replied that this can be easily modified.
I asked you how but you did not reply.
Please explain how you can do this- this is the only modification I would like to do.

The game and AI is not set up to handle this modification as it is ahistorical.

There will not be a challenge.

You might as well play another game.

You don't need this advantage to win.
you might as well hit the cheat key and be done with it.

Only several times have I posted a comment on forums and usually some says a rude & inappropriate remark like the last post-"you might as well use the cheat key or play another game"

The nice things about games is to have what if type scenarios and not have the game play out the same way.
If someone like Doom (which he did not) tell me how to modify this event (which he says it could be done) I would probably put it as a 20% chance for the Germans not to have a 6 month refit time.
I would LEAVE it at that for WHATEVER side I play in the game. Sooooo its not about me winning to try to put this in but to have a small what if percent for this event.

You were given constructive advice on how to make the change you wanted, by me. Razz is the only response you got that was rude, and he's always that way, so ignore him.

You completely bypassed the fact the AI is not written to handle the modification that gives the Germans a great advantage.

You can always attack even with the penalty, nothing stops you as a commander.

It's not as simple as making it random.
