I have set my fighters on 100% CAP.

Does that work for you? I seem to have memories of people on this forum mentioning that this often doesn't work as well as expected. Maybe due to the fact that they're all out of gas and ammo after the first wave of intercepts. I've never tried this so I can't be certain, but thought I'd mention it just in case.

On the CVs, why not use way points to take advantage of the hex rows, further faster.

24th Sept

KB East of Maloelap
MKB unknown

All the action was in the Marshall Islands.

Bombardment TF ran into 10 landing barges outside of the port. All 10 where sunk. Minimal damage was done to the AF. Air Craft loses will be reported in a screen shot. 6 SSX's attacked DD's and got hammered 4 are either sunk or will sink. The last 2 got luck as my DDs were out of ASW ammo. Day time brought the Nells out with A6m3a's as escorts. The Nells got thru and put a TT into the Penn. She's ok for now. The BB group will ro to Maloelap and hide under my CAP. So far I have 70 some fighters, I am working on getting more.

My 2E bombers attack Roi Namur's AF the first wave gets in under his CAP. The other 2 waves aren't as lucky. At the end of the day we have 31 AF hits. 2E's will attack by night and hopefully do some more damage. 2/3's of the fighters and half of the bombers are missing from Roi Namur.

KB is 8 hexs due east of Maloelap. Intel says heading NE. Intel also says on 60 fighters and 100 bombers. Knoiu has said that this is the KB in an email. he was devasated that he didn't get my carriers. Kb did sink a lone DD The strike package was kinda small for the KB 21 Vals and 33 Zeros.

In the screenshot found in post #748 the red line obscures whether you are displaying the TOE template or what the unit is actually equipped with.

1. If it is the TOE template you are showing, then you need to do the TOE template upgrade first. The details were given in my last post as to how to go about doing that.

2. If it is instead showing what it is currently equipped with but the TOE template has already upgraded, then the problem you have is that you don't have sufficient Indian 42 squads in the pool. The swap is made on a 1:1 basis, thus you need to have at least 150 Ind 42 squads in the pool.

The unit being a division it should be able to divide. One technique is to divide the unit (it will divide into three parts). When the parts have each upgraded, re-build the unit back to the full division.

Hopefully there will not be any bugs affecting leaders, but if you are running the latest patch it should work OK.

Alfred and Witqps thanks for posting again.

Alfred, that unit has not upgraded yet.   So I need to wait for 150 squads.  Ok

Witqps thanks thats a good idea. I might do that.

I wonder what his supply is on Roi Namur.  With building the SSX's, LB's, and me bombing him.  I hope its low.  I also hope the he dosen't have that many engs on the island.  If I can close the runway, keep it close I can work on Kwajalein's AF.  He has 40 fighters stationed there.

I am going to stop daylight bombings for now.  I want to protect my BB's, once they are safe or destroyed I will escort 2Es on bombing missions.  This debacle might of helped me out.  Fighters on escort mission is nothing but targets.  I just wasted a bunch of his planes on the ground and escort.  Maybe I will catch more on the next turn.

KB NE of Wotje
MKB unknown

Not much action today.

Buna
4E's hit the AF and destroy 5 Bettys on the ground.

Marshall Islands
We shoot down 6 Jakes and 2 Elfs.  Thats got to hurt his search abilities some.   Fleet sub puts a hot TT into a PB.

Roi Namur
Night bombing dosen't do squat.  Oscars are on patrol at night.  100 fighters are reported at Roi Namur with 12 being on night patrol.  I am thinking of bringing in some 4Es and baseing them out of Wake and bombing the AF at Roi.

Carriers will refuel from AO's outside PH and hang around Johnson Island.

I'd like to cut the emperor's Mavis supply down like that. I'm working over the southern Marshalls now, however being late '43 I am using navy Liberators. No escort necessary.

KB Lost track of her.  Got reports of a TF heading to Wake has been spotted.  I belive she is up that way.

China
Bombings

Bhamo
We score 60 hits on the AF.

DEI
2 subs get hammered and will make their way to ports for repairs.

Roi Namur
150 fighters sighted.  Possible sweep tomorrow.

Maloelap
I am waiting for a goo ID on the KB before I let my BBs make a run for PH. They are low on fuel so can't really do a full speed run just yet.  AO's are going to PH to refuel and then out to meet the BBs.

Well done DOCUP! I finnally caught up!

Glad to see a fellow Mountaineer (though I bleed green and white) succeed with this game. Great job delaying in the DEI, I know that it was costly, but it allowed you to focus your efforts into your CenPac offensive.

Sorry to read about the damage to the old Hq, hope that is all well now. I was pretty lucky storm-wise just some internet issues.

So couple of questions . . .
a) How are your naval forces looking. I see that your down to Ent and York, but seems like you've had some heavy CA and CL losses.
b) how does your airframe supply look?
c) how about your top ace? Considering your CW success, I'm betting he's a Brit.

Also thanks to Albert and Zulu for your insights!

Hi Norm 3 it is great to see a fellow West By God Virginian in here.  I also and a Green and White fan.  But will also cheer on the Blue and Gold.  Thanks for your compliaments.  HMM you made me look at my sunk ship list.  Did't realize it was that bad.

CVs 5 Allied lost
CVL 1 Allied lost
CS 2 Jap lost
BB 8 Allied lost
CA 1 Jap  9 Allied
CL 1 Jap  22 Allied
DD 29 Jap  48 Allied
Sub 20 Jap  19 Allied
SSX 7 Jap lost
TK 5 Jap  24 Allied
AO 1 Jap 3 Alled

Dosen't look that good for the Allies.  I sent alot to the bottom of the ocean early into the game.

Airframes look pretty good. I have been stingy with my AC.  Probably to stingy.  I put my ships into bad situations and lost way to many for nothing.

I have 3 pilots that have 9 kills 2 American and 1 British.

I would also like to thank Alfred, Zulu, Crack and all the others for helping me with this game.  I vow to do better in my next one.

Keep posting Norm  Always glad to see someone talk in here.   Are you playing a PBEM or AI or what ever?

Thanks for the update. Thought the navy was getting a bit battered.

Apparently we view our state sports in a similar light. Did you spend time with the Herd then? Is your HQ repair complete? You mentioned that it took a bit of a pounding last month?

I haven't made the leap to PBEM yet. Still battling the AI, with part of one hotseat game played with the guadalcanal senerio before my roomate got too frustrated with Torpedo Junction.

Reading AARs like yours, Canoerebels and zulus do give me the urge to take that leap, but I have so many other activities, that I do worry about letting my opponent down with inconsistant play.

Norm I went to Marshall Univ Nursing school.  I live close to Huntington now.  No I have not got my HQ fixed.  Lots of people with damages so everyone is booked up.   I played my first PBEM ever with AE and have not regretted it.  I have an AI game going but its hard to play it sometimes.  I really love PBEM.  Its a whole different game.   I am thinking about starting a second game.  But the amount of turns I could do would be lower than what I am doing now with Koniu.  So I am waiting.

So did you spend time running around the campus?   Your not that much older than me.  79 here.

China
Nanyang gets bombed again.  Koniu is hitting this base alot and hard.  I see one unit in the open hex east of Sian.

Burma
We sink 3 SC's near Rangoon.  SAG TF is running for Calcutta.  I have LRCAP on it if it comes into range.

Marshall Island
Grayback has followed the wounded PB from near Roi Namur to Turk.  One of our subs hits a mine at Roi Namur.  It might not make it to port.  I see a large TF inbetween Maloelap and Wotje.  Intel has it as DD's and DMS's.  Is he going to try and sweep my mine field at Maloelap?  Fighters are trying to fix AC and increase morale.

Wake
2 4E squadrons are based here now.  I am moving more in as we speak.

KB between Wotje and Johnson Is
MKB unknown

China Near Sian
Koniu is now moving Combat troops closer and more aggressively againist Sian.  It looks like he is trying a river crossing.  I am trying to move more troops into the suspected hex.

Akyab
33 Tojos sweep the base.  14 are shot down for 9 Hurri IIb's and 1 IIc.

Magwe
Tojo's are present.  B17's hit the AB and destroy 15 on the ground.

Palembang
2 AKs sweep the minefied.  Atleast one sinks the other has heavy damage.

Ambon
S boat is sunk by air ASW.

Brisbane
AMs put 2 hits on an RO boat.

Marshall Island
I tried to send out my BB's.  KB was in my blindspot.  A DD was sunk 2 old US BBs are damaged pretty badly.  Warspite is good. Forgot BBs shot down 10 Vals.

Plans
Rangoon will be targeted next turn by 4E's and by P38 sweeps.  I think Koniu has newer pilots in his Tojos now.  This is the third sweep that I have shot down more planes than have lost.

Roi Namur
4E's will attack the AF.

BB's will continue on their escape.  I expect to lose atleast 2 of them.

Got my first double ace today Brit pilot with 10 kills

Looks like Koniu is trying an end run in China.  A small dot base near Lanchow has fallen into Jap hands.  I am rushing troops to Lanchow (forts 3).  Recon is at the base now to fly some missions.  I am sending troops to Lanchow and to the yellow road to cut his supply line.

KB West of Johnson Island
MKB unknown

Rangoon
We sweep with 2 different P38 squadrons and 4E's follow to bomb the AF.

My fleeing BB's and 2 DD's are all sunk.  Warspite and her 2 DDs are found by a SAG and sunk. KB sinks one BB the other was sunk by sub.

Roi Namur
4E's launch. I wish they hadn't. 13 B24s, 4 B17Es are lost.

Air Loses
Jap loses are 10 Oscars, 8 A6m3a, 6 Tojo, 4 A6m2.  US 6 P38s, 4 F4Fs and the 4Es mentioned above

KB is 9 hexs west of Johnson Island heading east.  I have stacked Johnson with SBDs and fighters to go after the KB.  I have also left some ships nearby to draw in his attention.  The only way to make this turn worth it would be to takeout a carrier or two.

KB heading towards Wotje
MKB unknown
NCV following KB

I forgot to stand down my bombers and paid the price for it over Rangoon.  Lost 8 B17Es and 5 Fs.

China
Hes still moveing around Sian.  More troops are moving towards Sian now.  Troops are also moving to Nanyang.  I am already pulling out of Nanyang.  I think hes goign to try and roll up my flank.  He can't take Changsha.  Still no sign of troops by Lanchow.

Rangoon
Stated above.

KB and the other CV TF moved west and is out of my strike range.

Thoughts
I will have to wait along time to get my 4Es back into shape.

I am planning new invasions to try and spread his planes and ships out.  These may take awhile to develop.  I think he is building his MLRs in the Pacific now.  My invasion of the Marshalls scared him.

If I can stop him in China now.  He won't make another move.  I think.  I have screwed up China in this game.  I didn't pay attention to it.

Nanyang has 14 units moving towards it.  All units should be out of the city before the Japs get there.  14 Jap units are trying to cross a river hex south of Sian.  I have almost 1k worth of AV in a wooded hex with no forts yet.  Another 800 AV will be in that hex in 2 days.  I am hopeing they can get their and build atleast one fort before the Japs cross the river.  Lanchow no Jap units spotted yet. 80 AV will be in Lanchow tomorrow.  I am trying to build up a 2nd MLR now.  Yea I know its a little late.  I will post a screenie later.
