While surfing the coming soon list at EB,I came across this... http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/categories/products/product.asp?pf_id=231893 .

Is this true or an EB screwup? If it's true, congrats on getting EB to stock your games!

I hope if the game goes into stores, they include a printed manual instead of the cheesy PDF file.

Look on Matrix's home page. I saw something there about some sort of agreement with Kinkos Printing to facilitate these PDF Manuals into a printed format.

And we know for a fact that some people have used this service to print out the manual.

Aye, I saw that, and that's a really good idea. But if they are going to go retail and sell a wargame over-the-counter for 50 bucks, it had better have a first-class printed manual, or there will be a lot of unhappy campers. Brand new 50 dollar games with a cheesy, cheap-jack PDF file for a manual, don't cut it in the land of the big PX.

I wonder if you dealt with the major advantages of PDF at all. Otherwise you wouldn´t call it cheesy and cheap-jack. You get flack these days if you do not go PDF.

I prefer .pdfs and I am hardly alone. With a .pdf I can print things in fonts I want at sizes I want and even annotate notes.

I'm glad you like them. (PDF files) I guess someone was bound too. But I guarantee you this, They don't put a PDF file on the CD in place of a printed manual because of customer demand, they do it because it's cheaper. So I stand by "cheesy and cheap-jack".
Although I will still buy the game and a manual from Kinko's, it's still my opinion that a $50 game should already have a printed manual.

FWIW, since we had to re-do the packaging and make a new production run for the retail stores, the CD does include v2.0 and a new printed introductory manual by Jim Cobb (not the full one, which is still included as a .PDF).

For those who already have UV, the DocCenter link from our main page has some extremely affordable options for getting a printed manual and of course the new versions simply are a matter of spending the time to download the updates. :)

Regards,

- Erik
