Is the morale displayed for units the actual modified morale (after game settings adjustment, Russian Guards, etc) , or is it the basic un-modified morale? Seems to me that it is the basic un-modified morale, as when a Russian unit becomes Guards, I don't see a 5 point jump in the displayed morale, nor does adjusting the game morale settings seem to change the displayed value.

Modifiers do not alter unit's morale directly. They alter national morale which has effect on unit's morale in various situation (replacements/wins/losses/etc..)
