Anyone have any idea what's going on here? I'm going to run a couple more days (waiting on DD escorts to arrive from Panama), but this is two days now where Yorktown's VF-42 has shown up like this:

Why can't I draw any pilots?

there are 36 pilots assigned to VF-42. Go to the Pilots at lower left and check the arrival dates.

See Ready Pilots: 17(19) it means that 17 are in the Sq and ready and another 19 are selected for Sq and in transit

You have 19 pilots that have a delay of 1 day. You can go to the pilot screen and make them all active.

Right, I saw that. Perhaps I should have said "full", instead of full.

Thing is, I saw that the day before too. And yeah, it says Delay 1. But I still can't click "Get new pilot"...

Maybe it has to do with only having 17 planes, so the pilots won't automatically arrive until there's a plane for them? That still seems wrong. I could try releasing the pilots to global reserve, I guess, and then see if I can click the button...

Deleted cause I was wrong in the case of the OP.

Pilots at a '1' delay are available for inclusive in the active pilot by either 'activating' thru the pilot screen or just letting the game pull them in normally as required. The only real reason for doing this manually is to free up/swap out pilots who are 'worn out' or for giving training to those inactive pilots.

Yes Michael, you are right and I didn't look at the automatic (pilot) switch was ON the O.P picture. Still, isn't it true if planes are damaged or less than the max number, pilots will not be drawn automatically?

No, it has nothing to do with how many aircraft you have in the unit.

The simple fact is that you already have the maximum number of pilots ordinarily allowed in that squadron. It is irrelevant that less than 50% of those pilots are currently on active duty.

Once your rostered pilots reach 133% of the TOE, you no longer have the option to click on "get new pilot".

Going one step further than Alfred, you can now draw in pilots equal to the value of an air unit that is scheduled to re-size 6 months before it is to happen. Yours says that it will go to 36 in July 42. If you are in Jan 42 or later, that is the max number of pilots you can get.

The reason I want to draw them to active status is because I want them all to be training, even if there aren't enough planes for all of them. I don't really care if they become active because I'm able to click the button or because they're drawn automatically.

So I went in to the Pilots screen, thinking I would release some pilots from the group to be able to click the button (which with a source of Any seems to draw from inactive pilots in the group first, before drawing from a global pool)...

And I can just right-click on the pilots to make them active. Now I feel silly.

There is a 1 to 7 day delay when you draw pilots from the Reserve pool. When you click on the bottom left corner, Pilots, you can then go to the right most column, Delay, and sort them to see how long before they become available.
