Cocky little yellow man.

I think the IJ are going to miss the opporunity to transition to the defense ... One other thing .. The movement of large IJ TF's is exactly what the Allies want .. IMHO the more times the better .. sometime in mid '43 at this pace of operations the IJ will rue this day as fuel stocks become critical and the Alllies are begining to advance in force .. He is spending his Fuel 401K account so to speak ..

Interesting perspective Aces, If the IJ control Rabaul (and oil fields) with the DEI is it still have a worry in '43 as far as fuel?

Interesting perspective Aces, If the IJ control Rabaul (and oil fields) with the DEI is it still have a worry in '43 as far as fuel?

The problem is not the total amount of fuel in the empire in my mind, but where the fuel is and the means to get the fuel to the area of operations. The up tempo is out in the Marshall's .. this takes TK's/AO's to move the fuel that could be moving fuel to Honsho and industry ....While this is going on the HI Heavy Industry is drawing down on thier retirement savings needed when the supply is cut off ..

In scenario #1 with a high tempo set of operation like the IJ are engaged in .. it was my experience that the IJ start hurting with two competing interests -- the HI and keeping the Combined Fleet fueled in the exterme quarters of the empire. Yes the Fleet can port in the DEI and get fueled but that will not suply the fleet to engage out in teh Marshall's ... So those Tankers have a choice bring the fuel to Japan or bring it out to Truk or even further into Marshall's .. it is a slow insidious process of a series of decisions of where the TK's take stuff .. . like spending just 5 bucks on a cup of coffee everyday .. does not seem like much then but after a few years it adds up ... in this case about 400 turns into the affair my opponent suddenly realized that the high paced chase in the Marshalls using BB's diverted a lot of fuel that should have been transported to the Home Islands instead ...

Just my .02 ...
Now sinking some of those 13K tankers really fulmenates this problem ...

China
Bombs from the Japs.  We again don't fly againist Changsha.

Dimapur
He bombs teh AF for nothing.

Maloelap
I didn't figure he'd bombard here.  A sub takes a shot at a DD and misses.  He tangles with my PTs and sink 8 of them for no damage.  Then he runs into the minefield 2 DMS have heavy fires, one has heavy fires with heavy damage another has fires and a DD struck a mine with fires and heavy damage.  The BBs bombarded during the daytime and tore me up.  98 runway hits 88 svc damage 400 KIA.  I had my planes resting.  8 P40Es, 3 Cats, 3 Wildcats, 3 P39s, 2 Kitty's are destroyed and alot more damaged.  I have some engs inbound on APD's might bring in some AS on the next run.  Maybe his BBs will run into a few mines on the way out.

nothing else happend

We hit the AF again closeing it down and taking out 8 recon plans.  We lost 3 bombers.  Bombers will stand down to recover some AC and morale.

Borneo
Stingray is damaged by a depth charge and will have to head to port for repairs.

Maloelap
No sweeps or bombings.  I got 27 eng squads of a seabee unit in without problems.  Lets hope they can start to repair the AF.

Wotje
Tank destroyer Bn is almost here and it hasn't been spotted yet.  Half of the army BN has been transported.

Magwe
We sweep and find nothing.  Bombers bomb the construction unit and inflict 150 KIA's.

Wotje
Sweeps net 3 P40E's for no losses on the Jap side.  He bombs the AF and destroys 3 P40Ks on the ground.  Transports should be dropping off the TD Bn in the am.  All fighters are going to be patroling tomorrow, I expect to lose a few planes tomorrow.  I put most at 10k or below and the P40Ks are at 29k.

Lots of ASW action only one hit on a fleet sub with little damage.

We bomb the stack of LCU's to the east of Changsha.  Intel show 5 IDs (13, 17, 55, 70, and 68th), 1 IR, 1 mixed BDE, Army, and 1 Art unit.

Southeast of Sian
5 Jap LCU's have moved intot eh same hex as one of our blocking forces.  I figure Koniu will bombard tomorrow to see what hes up againist.

Wotje
Koniu sweeps and bombs the AF.  Our fighters stand tall destroying 20 A6m3a's and 3 Tojos for 10 P40K's, 3 P39D's, 2 Wildcats.  Most of the TD Bn is onshore now hopeing the rest and some supply will be unloaded tomorrow.

Maloelap
Damage to runway is comeing down nicely.  Supplies and fuel are headed here as we speak.

I now have conformation that I have sunk 4 big Jap tankers plus 4 other ones.

Op Shoestring
Still moving forces to Oz.

I am looking at going attacking Tagula and Miline Bay. If I am quick enough I might be able to throw off his game plans.

Southeast of Sian
bombardment attack reveals 5 Jap IDs (27,22, 3, 63, 37th) 2169 AV for the Japs.  I have 1739 with the Chinese behind mostly 2 forts and 2x terrain.  I think I can hold.

Akyab
Tojo's sweep and find nothing.

Coco's IO
Reinforcments start unloading.  I 165 takes 5 hits with one being a penetrating hit.  I 166 puts a TT into an xAK and sinks it with some eng vehicles on board.

Off Kendri
O 16 takes a hit and will move to the a repair yard.

Wotje
Tojo's sweep and find nothing.  Most of the TD Bn is off loaded.    I am seeing a difference in supply consumption now.  Good thing I have more coming.

PH
SC is sunk about 7 hexs west of PH.

John 3rd or Mike Solli would probably know this without blinking, by the way, I hav'ent heard a peep from Mike for awhile....If someone actually knows I'd like in to although I am only interested in scen. 1 for now. As for the force by Sian, check your leaders you may be able to upgrade cheaply. Hows the supply there? Did you see Alfreds ground combat modifiers?

Coco's
MKB pops up out of no where.  My Nav search didn't find it till after they flew their first strike.  We lose Illustrious, CLAA, xAK and prob a DD.  All troops are ashore and transports have been broken down into TFs by speed and running in different directions.  He didn't even go after my BB TF.  My bombers didn't fly either but my fighter jockies did what they could.  They shoot down 6 Betty's, 2 A6m3a's, a Val and a Kate.  Man don't let me plan naval ops in the reall world.  I will also do better in my next game.  I promise.

We have 251 AV with 1 fort and 30k worth of supply.  I 166 takes 7 hits from DD's.

Maloelap
Small sweep by zeros.

Wotje
All of the TD Bn is on shore with some supply.

There is no substitute for surprise. I would guess the Brits just did'ent have the range to engage and because the elements are so small would have been mauled anyway. The Catalina is integral to every amphib. Op possible. I have begun using SCTFs as pickets out to 80-100nm react 4 (I used to have aggressive COs) to keep as many nips off my CVTFs and Amphib. TFs as possible. The CL is usually the center piece. Good hunting!!

MKB  Off Cocos

China
We sweep the open hex south of Hengyang.  We find Oscars and Nicks.  We shot down 4 Oscars and 3 Nicks for no loses.  Koniu hasn't pushed any further in the Sian region.  I am holding off on alot of bombings from Changsha due to supply worries.  I have plenty but I don't want to bomb myself out of supply.

Burma
I see a 3 ship TF heading north along the coast.  He might be heading towards my ASW TF at Akyab.  I have a 3 ship TF lead by a CL that will sprint to Akyab and catch him.

Coco's
MKB sinks 6 xAKs.  The rest of my ships look like they might escape.  2 more xAKs will be sunk tomorrow.  This was my decoy TFs.  My more important ships went towards Java to escape.

Wotje
Tojos sweep and find nothing.  Helens escorted by A6m3a's.  We shoot down 9 for 4 P40Ks.  He scores 10 runway hits.  AF is still open but the airfield service damage is whats hurting me.  It takes forever for damaged planes to repair.  I am having the same problem on Maloelap.

NorPac
I have 3 CVE's up here.  I have sighted several picket ships up here.  I am going to give them some live fire training.

Troops are going to fight in the wooded hexs.  They will try to wear down the Japanese troops.  No bombings in China since I shut down Henchow's AF.

Changsha
I will probably bomb Henchow one more time before I pull out the Brit bombers and the P38s.

Akyab
Planes have been flown out will wait for the rest to repair and for the AFs to be repaired.  This will hinder some bombing missions I had planned.  I will also have to fix my Nav search.

Coco's
1 fort with 252 AV behind it.  Working on an AF now.

Oz
Units are prepping for 2 invasions.  Koepang and Roti, and Tagula and Miline bay.  I almost think I can get into Tagula without CV support.  I don't think Koniu has much in the way of fighters or bombers in teh area.  I haven't seen much of either.  I have reconned most of the Solomons with exceptions of Rabual and bases around it.  I am setting up some B17Ds now, so I can see whats at Rabual.

Wotje
Supplies are shrinking everyday.  Planes won't repair fast enought.  So I prob won't bring in any more planes until they the AF service damage is repaired.

Roi Namur
has 16k worth of troops.  I wonder how he is keeping them supplied?

NorPac
CVE's will move tonite and attack another picket ship.

KB NE of Kuasie Island
MKB Indian Ocean

3 turns went by today.  Oh yea 3 baby.  I don't remember much of the first 2 nothing much happened.

Sian AO
Japs bombard are forces in the woods to the south of Sian.  Not doing anything but give me more exp.

Wuchang
We sweep with P38s and find Tojos, Oscars, and Nicks.  8 P38s are lost for 6 Tojos, 7 Oscars, and a Nick.

Hankow
AF bombed and still closed

Burma
Some sweeps by the Japs but nothing to note.

Coco's
Bettys bombed the port today little damage done.

Marshall Islands
Looks like the Wotje Invasion is on people.  I sent a sub to peek into Ponape's harbor and it found an invasion fleet 20 xAKs AMC, APD, with 6 DDs.  The sub took a shot and no boom.  Then the sub got pounded,  it will limp back to PH.  Today we dud on the Akagi.  But see all sorts of TFs just above Kuasie Island.  I am moving my subs into the suspected paths of these TFs.

Wotje
2 forts with 200 AV and 15 working 155mm CD guns.  I only see one ID prepped for here.  That might not be enough to take the Island.  Hopefuly my subs will actually hit a few ships with working TTs.

NorPac
CVEs sank 2 more xAKLs.

I might be missing some stuff but I can't remember now and I must get back to my turn.

Sian
Jap bombers bombs some troops with little effect.  Koniu is moving in more troops but I don't think they will be enough.  I am behind at least 1 fort for every unit in a 2x terrain with good supplies.

Borneo northern coast
We put 2 working TTs into a big tanker.  The tanker is reported to be on fire with heavy damage.  Subs will contiune to patrol these area.

Saumlaki
We hit the AF with 4E's.  I plan more bombing missions in the future.

Marshalls
He sweeps and bombs Maloelap.  I hope his invasion force is not heading here. We put another working TT into an xAK with troops onboard.  It is reported on fire.  This invasion TF is going to go thru a bunch of subs.  I also snuck a DD SAG in behind Koniu's lines.  I am going to try and run it into the invasion TF from the rear.  I don't think it can happen thought.  It has to travel 8 hexs as the invasion TF has to travel 3 to get to where Koniu has a Jap SAG.  Maybe my subs can slow it down.  He has to go thru the fleet boats then the old S boats with working TTS.  I have another DD SAG just north of Wotje.  I figure minesweepers will lead the way.  Maybe these DDs can run in rough up the minesweepers and let the rest of the TFS clear the minefield one ship at a time.  My fighters are starting to recover now.  This is a good thing.  I have SBDs ready to fly in when the time is right.

Johnson Island
2 xAKs sunk and one damaged by a Jap sub.

Today had 12 sub attacks all by me.  3 working TTs.  I can't wait till 43 rolls around.
