I call it "recon by explosion".

How long do you reckon it will take to repair 28% flooding aboard Yorktown at Sydney?

Status: offline 		Oh, putting her in dry dock, pumping out the water and patching the hull should only take about 5 days.
Fixing the stuff damaged by the explosion, fires and water - about three months!
Give it top priority and maybe you can have it back in six weeks - if there are no upgrades to be done ...
[assuming of course that Sydney has been built to max size].

Ur PM box is full. So no thx you, for ya! Ack i need to set draft list...
If its major damage Sydney has a a cap 30k repair yard and York is 20k tonnage. So u cant speed it up by having a higher priovery.

Status: offline 		I had an Essex class (YorktownII) with 35% float at Sydney; gave up and sailed her all the way back to San Diego where I was equally unsatisfied; she now rests in the yards in LA. 110 days on critical! Well the entertainment is better...if I could only keep the enlisted out of zoot suits and at the pier.

Admiral Lord SPrior...do you think I should send her to Colombo via the Westerly route across Northern Oz?

Sounds like we wont save that much time in a port bigger than Sydney.

Probably best to go to Sydney and keep JJ guessing.

No..no filter or image manipulation..just JPG conversion. The lookout platform was blocking the direct sun to the lens but the flag was still being transilluminated and there was a tremendous blue sky with a good breeze.

100's of sailboats in the bay..just beautiful.

Yes, saw them. Enjoyed the pics. Very, very cool museum. Manequins were a bit creepy, though.

The CIC had authentic maps from GW1.

Not sure it means anything - looks like the guy who hoisted the signal flags had Swedish heritage in mind ... [gold/blue predominance]
EDIT: and judging by the three top flags with the St. Andrew's Cross on them, there was a Scot in the crew as well!

Status: offline 		choking on third. I saw an article in Nat Geo long ago about the A-Tests, as dad was there I took particular interest of course. They actually ordered guys in shorts etc. to go walk around on the target ships. They had livestock chained up at various places, very gruesome. But they did give the guys thirty days liberty on Bikini with ice cream to before they nuked it and gave a bunch of sailors permanant tans. I doubt many of those guys are left. My dad was on a destroyer, might have been the Newman K. Perry, at the time. I have to check with him as he was transfered several times in 1944 starting out on the victory ship Cape Chalmers as a signalman. Anyway, I wish I had three nuts. Could have used the spare.

I think I remember enough 'signal flag' interpretation to get this. You're right, Cap'n..., there is a Scottish influence!
